After that strage conversation with Lily, I ran off with a full head, heading straight for my Healing Magic class.

The classroom was warm, filled with the soft glow of angelic magic. Professor Lysandra, a serene and graceful angel with silver wings, was leading us through a series of advanced healing spells. I tried to focus on the task at hand, pouring my concentration into the soft light that pulsed from my hands, healing a small cut on a training dummy.

As I worked, the soothing hum of magic surrounding me, I couldn't help but feel the tension in my shoulders start to ease. Healing Magic had always been my sanctuary, the one place where everything else faded away, and I could just be.

"Very good, Star," Professor Lysandra said as she passed by my desk, her voice calm and encouraging. "Your control has improved. The light is steady, strong. Keep it up."

I nodded, allowing myself a small smile. Her praise made me feel lighter, more confident. But as I was about to move on to the next spell, I overheard a conversation between Professor Lysandra and Professor Elara, who had entered the classroom and was talking quietly at the front.

"So, the Winter Ball is confirmed, then?" Professor Elara asked, excitement clear in her voice.

I froze, pretending to adjust the flow of my magic while I strained to hear their conversation. The rest of the students were too focused on their own spells to notice, but my attention was now fully on the teachers.

Professor Lysandra nodded, her wings fluttering slightly. "Yes, the Council approved it last week. It's all set for the night before Christmas. They're planning to transform the Great Hall into a winter wonderland. It will snow inside, and there will be enchanted lights. I think it will be a wonderful way for the students to unwind after all their hard work."

Professor Elara smiled. "It's been a few years since the last one, hasn't it? This will be a treat, especially for the new students. A night where Radiants and Umbrals can set aside their differences and just enjoy themselves."

A Winter Ball. My heart skipped a beat. I'd heard rumors about it, but I'd never been to one. The thought of a night where everyone came together, dressed in their finest, dancing and celebrating under the magic of the season, filled me with both excitement and anxiety. A truce, a moment of peace in a place where light and dark were constantly at odds.

I imagined the Great Hall filled with glowing snowflakes, angels and devils mingling together, the air buzzing with laughter and music. For a moment, it seemed like the perfect escape, a chance to forget about everything—the rivalry, the tension, even Christopher's infuriating smirk.

But then reality set in. Christopher would be there, of course. And knowing him, he would find some way to turn the night into a game, to use the ball as an opportunity to tease me, to get under my skin even more than usual. I could almost picture him, leaning against a pillar, his red eyes watching me with that smug look, waiting for me to make a mistake.

Professor Lysandra and Professor Elara continued discussing the ball, going over details about the decorations and the music. My mind wandered, drifting between the idea of a perfect night and the ever-present knowledge that Christopher would somehow complicate things. I wasn't sure how I felt. A part of me wanted to go, to experience the magic of the ball, to feel like just another student for one night. Another part of me worried that no matter how enchanting the night was, Christopher's presence would be a constant reminder of our differences, of the deal we had made, and of the complicated, confusing feelings that were starting to surface.

I pushed the thoughts away, focusing back on my healing spell. The warm glow of magic flowed through my fingers, soothing and calm. Maybe the Winter Ball would be a chance to finally clear the air, to end this ridiculous game once and for all. Or maybe it would just make everything more complicated. Either way, one thing was certain: it was going to be a night to remember.
