Chapter One: Shattered Vows

It was a Friday Night; Vivian had just gotten off work. As she walks into her apartment, she hears the sounds of Voices and moans coming from her and her husband's bedroom, she feels a pound in her chest as she fears what it could be as she makes her way down the hall.

as she listens to the sounds a pounding in her chest increases. "Please don't be what i think it is." when she reaches the bedroom, she notices the door is slight ajar. She opens her door to see Diego, and her best friend Lila tangled in bed sheets together. As she sees this her breath gets caught in her throat and her world shatters around her.

Diego scrambles to get out of bed. "Vivian, this isn't what it looks like!" Diego says trying to redeem himself. as he gets out of bed Lila pulls the sheets around her, trying to cover herself. But the attempt is useless because the damage has been done. Vivian looks at the pair with, hurt, disbelief and anger before answering

"It isn't what it looks like? Then what is it, Diego? Because it looks like you were screwing my best friend." Vivian yells at him with shaking voice as she watches the scene unfold. Diego tries to reach out for her, but Vivian steps back to avoid his touch. Even though her heart aches all she can feel is anger. As she backs away, she tells him "Don't. Just Don't".

Vivian then walks to the dresser while grabbing a backpack. She begins to pack clothes and essentials; she notices that Diego tries to speak but cuts him off with an Icey glare and tone.

"Save your breath, Diego. I don't want to hear it." as she says this, she takes off her wedding ring, her hands trembly as she does this. Without giving it a second thought she tosses the ring at Diego and watches as it lands on the floor with a clink.

Vivan looks him "I thought you loved me. That we were building something, but I guess I was wrong" she tells him with her voice breaking. With a packed backpack, she turns around and heads for the door not bothering to give Diego or Lila another glace.

Diego watches her leave and becomes desperate. "Vivian, please don't leave like this. We can talk about this-" Vivian doesn't give him a chance to finish the sentence "Talk about what Diego, how you betrayed me? There is nothing left to say." with that she slams the door behind her.

When she makes it in her car, she calls the first person she could think of. She listens to the phone ring before hearing him answer. "Vivian? What's going on?' the voice sounds concern to why she is calling.

She answers with a trembling when she answers the voice "Five, i" she takes a breath before continuing "I need a place to stay for the night". Five fully sits up in bed concerned lacing his voice. "What happened?". Vivian swallows hard, as she is trying to keep her composure. "I found Diego with Lila. i" she takes a minute before answering "I can't stay there. I don't know where else to go." Five instantly answers her "Come to my place. I'll be waiting".

Vivian sighs. "Thank you. I'll find a hotel in the morning. I just need somewhere for tonight." as Five hears the word Hotel he firmly tells her "No, you're not going to a hotel. You're staying here. I've got more than enough room, and your family. You're not going through this alone." as Vivian hears his words, she wipes her tears as she feels the relief of his words.

"Thank you Five, I'll be there soon." she softly thanks him feeling grateful. Five replies gently to the girl "Take your time. I'll be here when you arrive."

Vivian hangs up the phone, her heart heavy but slight comforted by her brother-in-law's support. She starts the car and drives away from the apartment, leaving behind the life she thought she had.

about a half an hour later Vivian pulls up to Five's house, her heart pounding in her chest. She notices his porch light is on, a small beacon of warmth in the dark night. She gets out of the car, backpack on her back, and walks up to the front door. Before she can knock, the door swings open, revealing Five standing there with a concerned look.

"Come inside" Five softly tells her. Vivian nods and steps into the house. The moment the door closes behind her, the weight of the night hits her all over again, and she breaks down. Five immediately pulls her into a comforting hug. "You're safe here, Vivian. You don't have to go through this alone." Five tells the girl reassuringly. Vivan clings to him, letting the tears fall freely, knowing that, for now, she's in a place where she can heal.
