Right before my life could slip away, I felt a sudden jolt—someone was pushing the siren off me. I could move again, though my body remained paralyzed with fear. The person grabbed me, pulling me into their arms and carrying me out of the water, back onto the gazebo. My eyes shot open, and I saw Gilm holding me, a gentle smile on his face as he looked down at me. My breathing was ragged, and I couldn't stop shaking. But then, Gilm began running his hands through my hair, his touch calming me, rubbing my back in soothing circles. Slowly, I started to calm down, the terror ebbing away.

I slid out of his arms, my legs shaky, and managed to stammer, "Th-thank you, Gilm."

"You're welcome," he replied, his voice steady and reassuring.

But before I could fully regain my composure, Gilm walked over to the edge of the water. Panic surged through me again. "Gilm, don't!" I called out, but he didn't listen. He knelt by the water's edge, where the siren lay unconscious, half-submerged. Gilm carefully pulled her out, laying her on the gazebo floor. As soon as she was out of the water, her scales began to recede, and her serpentine features softened back into those of a normal girl. Gilm reached into his pocket and pulled out a small vial, removing the cap and pouring its contents into her mouth.

The last remnants of scales on her legs and cheeks vanished, and her eyes fluttered open, the glowing yellow receding into a deep, emerald green. She gasped for air, her chest heaving as she came back to herself.

"What was that?" I asked, still trying to steady my voice.

Gilm glanced at me, his expression serious. "It was a vial of fairy dust. It stops her from turning into a siren and helps her resist the siren instincts. My friend Dustbell supplies the fairy dust."

I looked back at the girl, curiosity and concern mingling in my thoughts. "What's your name?"

She hesitated, still looking shaken. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you. I didn't have control. People call me Siphony, but my real name is Melody—daughter of Queen Ariel and King Eric."

My eyes widened in surprise. "Oh wow... How did you become like this?"

Melody looked down, guilt and sorrow written across her face. "Right before the villains were banished, Ursula still wanted revenge on my mom. So she cursed me, giving me siren instincts and the ability to turn into a siren whenever I touch water. But no one knows, so please... in public, call me Siphony. And I'm really, really sorry for what happened."

Before I could respond, she scrambled to her feet and ran off, tears welling in her eyes. Gilm offered me an awkward smile before chasing after her, leaving me alone on the gazebo.

I leaned my head against one of the pillars, letting out a long, tired sigh. The evening air was cool against my skin, but my mind was still reeling from everything that had just happened. So much had changed in such a short time, and I couldn't help but wonder what was coming next.
