As Colton and Alex’s relationship developed, so did the challenges they faced. Colton’s newfound confidence made him a target for Alex’s friends who were less than thrilled with the change. The taunts and jeers continued, but now Alex was there to stand up for Colton.
One afternoon, Alex’s friends were particularly vocal, making cruel comments as they passed by Colton. Alex, seeing the distress on Colton’s face, stepped in.
“Hey!” Alex called out, his voice cutting through the noise. “Back off. You have no right to treat him like that.”
The group fell silent, their faces a mix of shock and defiance. Alex’s tone brooked no argument, and after a moment of hesitation, they retreated, muttering under their breaths.
Colton watched in awe as Alex stood up for him. “Thanks for that,” he said quietly.
Alex smiled, placing a reassuring hand on Colton’s shoulder. “You don’t have to thank me. We’re in this together.”
