Hey, I know it's been a while since I actually put a new story on here and I want to know what you think of this one. I came up with the idea based on how my school puts freshmen and seniors together. Of course, I added my own twist ;)
"Jen!" I squeaked as my best friend hugged me. Well more like squeezed the death out of me. To be honest, I couldn't even breathe.
"Where were you yesterday?!" She yelled, making us receive a few annoyed glares from the students throughout the hallway. They shouldn't really be shocked though, they should be used to it by now. I was, but I've know Jen since forth grade. That would make it five years that I have known her.
"I was out sick," I brushed it off. "Everyone is out sick all the time. It's no big deal Jen, I didn't die or anything. I'm still here, see?"
I gestured to my body, and then gestured to the hallway around me. Jen rolled her eyes and pulled back from the hug to grab my shoulders instead. She started to shake me, doing it so intensely that I had to grab onto her shoulders to prevent me from falling over.
"Chelsea! You have never been absent the whole entire school year! And of all days you had to be absent, you had to be absent the first day of the second semester! We had all new classes and you missed it!" She explained, not too calmly I might add.
"I didn't miss much Jen, I only missed gym. That is no big deal. Nothing happens the first day of gym; they just explain the rules, we learn the names of all the other students in the class, and we learn what we are going to play for the rest of the semester. Really, it's no big deal."
"Okay," she replied reluctantly. "But you have student teachers in gym class. You might have missed the introduction to them."
"Really? Uh, I didn't know we had student teachers..."
"Yeah we do. The seniors sign up for it the year before, and if they've had a good gym grade throughout the past few years, they get excepted. Basically, it's supposed to teach the seniors responsibility and what it's like to be a teacher."
I looked at Jen questionably. She never really knows that much about one simple thing that doesn't really involve her or someone she knows.
"Jen... How do you know so much about what happens with the student teachers?" I asked.
She looked away to the lockers, as if they became the most interesting thing in the world. When she did that, I knew she was going to give me a vague answer that didn't tell me the real reason about why she knew so much.
"Oh you know... I wanted to become a student teacher myself," she said warily.
"Uh huh, yeah cause I totally believe what you're saying right now," I said sarcastically.
She sighed and opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out of her mouth.
"I won't pressure you Jen," I said, reassuring her. "Just tell me the truth when you're ready."
She nodded and smiled, happy that I wasn't forcing her to tell me the real reason.
"Now, let's get to class!" Jen shouted, pointing to the ceiling as if she was posing for a picture. She suddenly put down her hand and grabbed mine instead, dragging me down the hallway. A few of the other students gave us even more glares. Woohoo! Only in school for ten minutes and we have already received about thirty glares. That has got to be a new record for us.
We entered our first class for the day, Geometry. I know what you're thinking: math in the morning, how do you do it? Truth is, we like math so it's not that bad.
