Leo Reyes watched his best friend, and future Beta, let out a dramatic sigh as her head slumped onto her desk, dark, curly hair spilling onto her arms.
"You know that's only due in like 2 weeks right?" he called from his place on her bed.
His phone was lit in one hand while a half-eaten chocolate bar occupied the other.
Amirah turned to him. "If I don't get it done now I never will. You're gonna start yours in what ... 2 weeks?" She asked with a smirk.
Leo grabbed the pillow behind him and threw it in her general direction, grinning when it hit the back of her head. "Haha, so funny. At least I get it done."
She glared at him. Her usually dark, brown eyes glowing a deep gold hue, before rolling her eyes and throwing the pillow back onto her bed.
She turned back to the task in front of her while he finished the rest of his chocolate bar. They sat in comfortable silence for a long time. This was boring.
"Uh, are you going to the party?" He asked.
He hoped she said yes. He didn't want to be alone when he lost himself to music and booze. Leo knew Wyatt wasn't going, he never did. He was too boring for that, too uptight, he didn't know what fun was.
"Huh?" She turned to him with obvious confusion.
"Mei's having one again this year, wanna go?"
Before she could answer, his ringtone filled the room. It was his mother. He pressed the phone to his ear, preparing himself for another round of 'what did Leo do wrong this time'.
"Sí?" He answered cautiously.
"Hay una reunión, Leo. ¿Lo olvidaste?" His mother said with slight annoyance.
[There's a meeting, Leo. Did you forget?]"Shit. Ya voy." [I'm coming]
He knew he had been forgetting something.
He quickly grabbed his backpack from the floor and said goodbye to Amirah before rushing out of her house.
He jogged to the pack house, grabbing his phone from his pocket before dialling a number.
"Hey, can you stall for me please?" He said, hanging up before the voice at the other end had time to protest.
His dad was going to kill him for being so late, this was an important meeting. A meeting between the two rival packs to discuss..... Leo didn't actually know. He needed to check.
He didn't want to walk into the room looking like he wasn't even an ounce prepared - which he wasn't - but they didn't have to know that.
Leo transformed into a large brown wolf and sprinted in the direction of the mansion-sized pack house. Once he arrived at the large structure, he quickly transformed back into his human form, straightening out his tie and dusting off the lapels of his suit.
He combed a hand through his dark, black hair, and walked into the building. Leo found him waiting at the door, dressed in a navy blue suit void of any imperfections.
Like always.
Wyatt Piotrowski looked up at him in disdain. His light blond hair was slightly long, falling in a tangled mess over his forehead, almost touching his dark, forest-green eyes.
He glanced down at the black watch on his wrist. "Wow. 45 minutes late, that's a new record."
"Mhm one more award that you'll never have," Leo replied, noticing the thin roll of papers in his hand. The notes.
