Floods of people headed toward the house. Girls in groups giggling in their heels and bouncy hairstyles, guys talking obnoxiously loud across the lawns with drinks in hand. The party started nearly an hour ago and people were still turning up. Juniper's hand wrapped around April's wrist as they grew closer to the entrance, hoping she wasn't going to be swept away. Shoulders bumped into hers and she could feel people stepping on her toes. The group of girls headed straight to the kitchen, which took a while to find, and found it way more spacious.

"He is totally checking you out," April muttered against her cup, looking directly at the boy. Instead his eyes didn't meet hers, too busy watching the blonde. Juniper twirled around, facing the wrong way. "Three o'clock, clockwise"

Her long hair swayed as she turned back around, finally facing the right way and making it look awfully obvious that they were talking about him. That hardly seemed to phase him, the dark brunette flashed her smile the moment their eyes met. She tightly smiled back and awkwardly looked away, sipping her empty solo cup.

"Go over there" April encouraged, nudging her elbow into her friend's side. Juniper squirmed and stepped away from her reach.

"No way," Juniper humourlessly chuckled, glancing around. "No amount of alcohol would get me over there"

"He's clearly into you. Come on! What's the worst that could happen?" April giggled. Juniper shot her a look and her lips grimaced. "Ok, do not answer that. Seriously, you have to talk to him tonight!"

"Oh," Juniper gasped, shaking her cup. "Looks like I need another drink"

The kitchen hardly had anyone in. Other than the unflattering couple in the corner, eating each faces and a few groups of friends passing through. Juniper wandered over to the countertop, cringing at the couple as she had to shuffle around them to reach the collection of alcohol. Mixing drinks would make her make bad decisions, so she stuck to plain vodka. At least this choice only makes her overthink her existence and maybe cry. Finding a bottle that had liquid in it, she poured herself another cupful.

"Hey," A voice said. Juniper didn't think it was directed to her until a hand stretched over her and grabbed a bottle close by. Her eyes flickered up to meet a familiar blue pair, immediately looking back down at her cup. "Sorry"

"It's ok" She mumbled, screwing the lid on and placing it down.

"I haven't seen you before," He quickly said before she could quickly slink away from him. Her eyes widened and she took a deep breath, they had never been caught crashing a party before. She could not be the first to blow their cover. "I'm Colby, by the way"

"Juniper," She curtly nodded, barely looking back at him. "But my friends call me June"

"Nice to meet you, Juniper" He smiled softly, making it near impossible for her not to reciprocate. "You from around here?"
