I creep slowly the through the gloom, my naturally red eyes casting a red glow around me. I spot a small weasel in the undergrowth, but ignore it. I'm looking for something larger than that. Just then, a hear the distinctive thud of heavy paws. I turn to that direction and strike before the poor cougar can stand a chance. One snap of the neck, and then the cat lies still and unmoving. I let out a wild, ear-piercing shriek which echoed around under the night sky, claiming myself as the new king of the forest.

"I'm back!" I shout to the seemingly empty house. I hear a faint reply. I walk up the spiral staircase which is polished so well that the glossy wood reflects anything clear as glass.  Arriving apon a study filled from top to bottom with papers and books, I take a copy of The Call of the Wild from a shelf and settle into a comfy armchair. The female vampire sitting behind the desk suddenly talks,

"Why hello, Belle, I thought you you were never going to come back. You were gone for -" she looks at her watch for half a second before returning to her work. "One week, four days, fifteen hours, thirty -two minutes exactly."

I blush, unable to find a reply to her statement. All the while, she keeps on writing. Her eyes had never looked anywhere else but her watch during all this time.  At last, she puts down her pen and stares intently at me.

" I think you owe me an explanation, Belle,"

"Well...I ...just ...lost track of the time."

Her tone becomes more like her usual tone, and she smiles, the first one since I came in.

" Just tell me before you leave for long periods next time."

" I will." I say, glad to be forgiven.

I hurry back to my room.
