The Four Elements

Chapter 2

Hunting again. These few days, the thirst for blood is insatiable. It rages strong as ever, forcing me to hunt always. Vampires feed on mainly blood, but they can also eat human food. They only sleep for a hour or so, and they have extraordinarily powerful senses. They are are immposibily fast, and have lightning-fast reflexes. On appearance, vampires are the same with humans, but they have fangs that can be retracted as to give the vampire a "normal" appearance. Vampires have red eyes, no matter their diet, and no, they do not perish under sunlight. However, they have sunburn easily. Vampires do have a reflection, and when they are thirsty, the reflections are fainter. Garlic is one of vampires's favourite human snacks, and have no unhealthy effects on vampires. Vampires can choose to be any age they wish. They can live for ever unless having given its heart, or to say, fall in love with a mortal being, for example, a human being, in which the vampire dies at the same time or shortly after the mortal. Vampires can breed among its own kind and also humans. The offspring of a human and a vampire results in a vampire, though it tends to eat more food and drink less blood. The process is equal to the mating process in humans, and cause no damage to either the vampire or the human.

 Speaking of humans, my mouth waters. (Yes, vampires have saliva, and vampire spit heals every wound.) It has been a long time since I had hunted from humans, so long ago that I have already forgotten the time. Why did I abstain from human blood though? I do not know. I only know that as the time passed, the taste of human blood became disgusting to me. I remember only the revolted feeling when I tried to drink again and again. It was with pure joy that I changed from human blood to animal. It has become a habit now, and I feel no more of that particuler revulsion.

I walk slowly back to my house, feeling that every step took all the effort I could muster, and fell asleep on the sofa.
