Clarity Wright has liked Benjamin Nielsen for as long as she can remember. She always found it cute how nerdy and awkward he is. Though neither of them realized their true feelings for each other until middle school. They started dating the summer before seventh grade.
The only hard part about maintaining their relationship was the distance, seeing as they lived halfway across the country from each other. They visited for whatever breaks they could but it still wasn't easy. The only reason they knew each other was the theater camp they both went to every summer since they were six.
Clarity had felt like something was off between them this past year. They wouldn't call as much and even when they visited each other it always felt like something was off between them.
For instance Benj didn't go to theater camp this year, neither did Clarity if something hadn't come up. Benj told her he wasn't planning on going at all which surprised her because the last time they talked he said he was going. Now maybe she was being paranoid but she'd rather be safe than sorry, so she decided to do something to help fix whatever was wrong with their relationship.
So when Clarity's parents told her that they were moving and that she'd be going to the same school as Benj she was ecstatic. She'd get to do something about their wonky relationship without having to stress over planning. All she had to do was keep it a secret until they moved.
One downside was Clarity was gonna miss her city, maybe the people weren't her favorite but the views, the places, the food and just the general feeling of being there was gonna be hard to top. She's confident that she will be able to adjust though, it's not like she had any friends only acquaintances.
Clarity had an underlying feeling that this wasn't gonna go as well as she hoped it would but she just brushed it off because life is what you make it so carrying that negative energy before she gets there will taint her outlook on what happens.
With a sigh she closed her eyes as the long trip to California commenced.
