The night after the encounter on the bridge was suffocating, the air thick with tension and the promise of secrets about to unravel. I barely slept, my mind reeling from Jess's cryptic words and the silence that followed. What was she hiding? And why did Jungkook seem to know so much more than he was letting on?

Morning I have arrived in a haze of uncertainty. I was lost in thought as I walked across campus, trying to focus on anything but the nagging feeling that something was wrong. The usual chatter of students and the vibrant energy of the university felt distant like a world I was no longer a part of. The events of the previous night had thrown everything off balance.

"Y/n, you okay?" Jess's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. She appeared by my side, her expression warm and familiar, but now I knew better. I couldn't shake the image of her cold smile under the bridge, the way her eyes had gleamed with something darker than I'd ever seen in her before.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I lied, forcing a smile. "Just tired."

"You've been tired a lot lately," Jess noted, her tone gentle, but I caught the undercurrent of suspicion. "Are you sure everything's okay?"

I nodded, trying to keep my voice steady. "Yeah, just the usual stress. You know how it is."

Jess studied me for a moment, and I could feel her eyes probing for cracks in my facade. "If you ever need to talk, I'm here, Y/n. You know that, right?"

"Of course, Jess," I replied, my smile strained. "I know."

But did I really? The memory of her ominous words from last night echoed in my mind, and I couldn't help but wonder if the Jess I'd known for years was still the same person standing beside me. Or had she been someone else all along, hiding behind a mask of friendship?

As the day dragged on, I found myself avoiding Jess, keeping our conversations brief and superficial. My mind kept drifting back to Jungkook. I needed to know more about him, about the world he was tangled in, and how Jess fit into it all. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I was standing on the edge of something vast and terrifying.

After classes, I decided to skip my usual trip to the coffee shop and headed to the library instead. I needed answers, and I needed them fast. The library was quiet, a sanctuary from the storm of emotions raging inside me. I found a secluded corner and pulled out my phone, searching for any information I could find about Jungkook and his world.

I knew it was dangerous to dig too deep, but the fear of the unknown was worse. As I scrolled through news articles and forums, I found nothing but vague references and rumors—mentions of rival gangs, whispers of power struggles, and hints of a life lived on the edge of the law. But nothing concrete, nothing that explained why Jess was involved or why Jungkook had warned me to stay away.

My thoughts were interrupted by a message notification. My heart skipped a beat as I saw Jungkook's name flash across the screen.

"Meet me at the rooftop tonight. Midnight."

That was all it said. No explanation, no reason why. Just a command, as if he knew I would follow it without question. And the truth was, I would. Despite the fear and uncertainty, there was something about Jungkook that drew me in, something I couldn't resist.

Midnight seemed an eternity away, and as the hours crawled by, my anxiety grew. What did he want to tell me? Was it about Jess? About the secrets she was keeping? Or was it something else, something even darker?

When the time finally came, I made my way to the rooftop, my heart pounding with anticipation. The night was clear, the stars shining brightly against the inky sky, but the beauty of the scene did nothing to calm my nerves. The rooftop was eerily quiet, the only sound the soft rustling of the wind.

Jungkook was already there, leaning against the railing with his back to me. His silhouette was sharp against the night sky, and for a moment, I hesitated. But then he turned, his gaze locking onto mine, and I felt that same magnetic pull, the same undeniable connection that had drawn me to him from the start.

"You came," he said, his voice low and smooth, but there was an edge to it that sent a shiver down my spine.

"You asked me to," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.

He stepped closer, his eyes never leaving mine. "There's something you need to know, Y/n. Something that changes everything."

I swallowed hard, my pulse racing. "What is it?"

He paused, his expression unreadable, and for a moment, I thought he wasn't going to tell me. But then he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Jess isn't who you think she is. She's been lying to you, to everyone. And now, you're caught in the middle of something dangerous, something you can't escape."

His words hung in the air, heavy with meaning, and I felt a cold dread settle in the pit of my stomach. "What do you mean? What is she hiding?"

Jungkook's gaze hardened, his jaw tightening. "She's not your friend, Y/n. She's part of this world, just like I am. And if you don't stay away from her, she's going to drag you down with her."

The revelation hit me like a punch to the gut, the truth unraveling the last threads of trust I had clung to. Jess, my friend, the one person I thought I could rely on, had betrayed me. And now, I was trapped in a web of deception, with no way out.

I wanted to scream, to demand answers, but all I could do was stare at Jungkook, my mind racing with questions I wasn't sure I wanted answered. What had I gotten myself into? And how far would I have to go to escape the darkness closing in around me?

As the night deepened, the weight of Jungkook's words pressed down on me, suffocating me with the realization that my life would never be the same. The truth was out, and now there was no turning back. The world I had known was gone, replaced by a labyrinth of lies and danger that I was powerless to escape.

And somewhere in the shadows, Jess was waiting, her true intentions still a mystery.
