In a land full of squares, there was once a triangle. The triangle was feared, as she was different from the rest. When she went out, she was considered walking trash. Most days she remained indoors. She was afraid of what the squares would do to her. Her mailbox was full of awful threats. She knew some were crazy enough to act on their words. Every bit of kindness she showed was abused, every bit of rage she felt was silenced. Lies about her were spread to brainwash the few that showed empathy. This injustice was pointless, as she never committed a crime. She was much like a mouse trapped in a glue trap; it hurt and she couldn't escape. The triangle was painted as the Villain of this story.
In a land full of squares, there was once a circle. The circle was loved, as he was different from the rest. When he crawled as a child, he would get cheers. Whenever he spoke the room was quiet, as everyone was obsessed with the way he talked. Even if he attacked a square, they would still continue to cheer. He was never punished, so he never learned. As he aged, he became more corrupt. He turned to drugs and crime, yet people did not mind. He was the special one after all. With everything he could ever dream of, he became something far from good, something almost like a cruel god. This god watched as their servants struggled, yet they continued to give praise. It enjoyed their pain and laughed. The circle was painted as the Hero of this story.
The circle and the triangle. Two fates intertwined. One can not exist without the other. The triangle strives to have the circle's privilege while the circle has never felt the triangle's pain. A Hero and a Villain, a "right" and a "wrong". In this land of squares, the Hero and the Villain are destined to meet. The Hero will become the Villain and the Villain will become the Hero, forever on repeat. In this land of squares, those different will forever stand out amongst the crowd. When everything is the same, small changes are as clear as day. In this land of squares, all it takes is a small change to throw everything into disarray. Both the circle and the triangle are banished, forced to be sent away.
In a land full of squares, there was once a hexagon. The hexagon was ignored, as they were different from the rest. They tried to talk to the squares, they tried to speak their mind, yet every attempt ended with the sound of silence. They were isolated, they were alone. The silence was so quiet, yet it was so loud. Prolonged silence. Silence, silence, silence. Nothing but silence. The silence drove the hexagon insane. They were far past the chance to be saved. Even the thought of silence was too much for them, and they strived to have constant noise filling their brain. They danced and they sang, they were a fool and they were clumsy. The hexagon was painted as the Jester of this story.
In a land full of squares, there was once a trapezoid. The trapezoid was crowded around, as it was different from the rest. It spoke one word, and soon that word was spread around the world. Its name, its age, its gender, none of it was private anymore. It could not speak or else its words would be spread like news of the apocalypse. It could not express a single opinion without having half of the world on its heel. Prolonged chatter. Chatter, chatter, chatter. Nothing but chatter. The flapping of lips, the unwanted opinions. It could not take the popularity it never wanted, so it went silent. It stopped talking, it stopped sharing its opinions. It took the easy route out. The trapezoid was painted as the Mute of this story.
The hexagon and the trapezoid. Two fates intertwined. One can not exist without the other. The hexagon dreams of the trapezoid's popularity, while the trapezoid strives for the hexagon's silence. The Jester and the Mute, a "lunatic" and a "freak". In this land of squares, the Jester and the Mute are destined to meet. The Jester will become the Mute and the Mute will become the Jester, forever on repeat. In this land of squares, both those heard and unheard will forever stand out amongst the crowd. When everyone acts the same, small changes are as clear as day. In this land of squares, all it takes is a small change to throw everything into disarray. Both the hexagon and the trapezoid are banished, forced to be sent away.
In a land full of squares, there once was a cube. The cube was misunderstood, as he was different from the rest. To him, the squares felt flat. Their words came from a place of sympathy or pity, though he did not mind. In reality all he wanted was for someone to understand him like he understood others, yet no one ever did. The squares never heard his pleas, they thought he was making everything up. They never said it straight up, though he could infer what their thoughts were. He could not take the stress of his thoughts, so he pushed himself against a wall, over and over again. Now, he was just like the squares. He was flat. The cube was painted as the Paper of this story.
In a land full of squares, there once was a dot. The dot was over-analyzed, as she was different from the rest. Squares could understand her personality at a glance, and she kept accidentally oversharing whenever she spoke. She hated herself for this. She just wanted to be different, yet she was not. In a sea of unique ideals and goals, she was a piece of driftwood, doomed to float. The uneasy waves tossed her around. Sometimes they briefly submerged her, yet she always floats to the surface. She was shallow, nothing more than surface level. To make up for this flaw, she dove into books, slowly stretching herself out. She was fated to be judged. The dot was painted as the Puddle of this story.
The cube and the dot. Two fates intertwined. One can not exist without the other. The cube dreams to to be as dull as the dot, while the dot hungers to have the uniqueness of the cube. The Paper and the Puddle, the "deep" and the "shallow". In this land of squares, the Paper and the Puddle are destined to meet. The Paper will become the Puddle and the Puddle will become the Paper, forever on repeat. In this land of squares, those that are complex and those that are flat will forever stand out amongst the crowd. When everyone is equal, small changes are as clear as day. In this land of squares, all it takes is a small change to throw everything into disarray. Both the cube and the dot are banished, forced to be sent away.
In a land full of squares, there once was a star. The star shone bright, as it was different from the rest. Problem after problem, solution after solution, it kept solving everything that was thrown at it. In a hurricane of numbers, it could find a solution in the eye of the storm. It was unfathomably intelligent, yet it felt nothing. It never felt proud, it did not try. All it could do is study, so it was left with no time. It could not get confused, as if it did, things would not end well. It had to be smart, it must always know what is right from wrong. If it made a mistake, it was a failure and it deserved nothing better than death. The star was painted as the Computer of this story.
In a land full of squares, there once was an oval. The oval was dull, as they were different from the rest. They struggled to understand. They were as dense as a planet, hopelessly floating among the stars. They looked and looked, they searched and searched, yet nothing could save them from their sheer idiocy. They went to tutors, it never ended well, yet they continued to try. The problem is no one recognized their efforts. Time and time again they were scolded for not trying hard enough or for slacking off. They never slacked, they were always putting in all their effort. They continue to struggle, they continue to not understand. Could somebody save them from the sheer confusion they felt? The oval was painted as the Rock of this story.
The oval and the star. Two fates intertwined. One can not exist without the other. The oval studies to be as smart as the star, while the star wants to feel what it is like to live with the ovals' idiocy. The Rock and the Computer, the "idiot" and the "genius". In this land of squares, the Rock and the Computer are destined to meet. The Rock will become the Computer and the Computer will become the Rock, forever on repeat. In this land of squares, those that are smart and those that are dumb will forever stand out amongst the crowd. When everyone has the same level of intelligence, small changes are as clear as day. In this land of squares, all it takes is a small change to throw everything into disarray. Both the oval and the star are banished, forced to be sent away.
The Villain and the Hero, the Jester and the Mute. The Paper and the Puddle, the Computer and the Rock. All eight were different, all eight were unique. All eight were outcasts, all eight were banished. They found comfort in each other, they found comfort with their new freedom. Before they were caged dogs barking at the hand that fed them, yet now they are birds, free to fly into the sky. They built a new land with the ones that surrounded them, the ones that understood their pain. The triangle and the circle, the hexagons and the trapezoid. The cube and the dot, the star and the oval. All eight were surrounded by those like them, all eight were finally happy.
In a land full of colorful shapes, there once was a square. The square was free, she was amongst the happy. The world around her was built by the outcasts, the ones who were misunderstood. It was a safe haven for the ones that people cast aside, it was the place where everyone can have their own dreams.
