Sanji, after being trapped for so long, had given up on ever leaving. So why was a weird stretchy kid trying to help him escape!?
-
It was night, the moon was shining into Sanji's room through a small window in front of his 'room'. He refused to accept it was night, he wanted to feel the sun and it's warmth. He wanted warmth. But he knew to give up on it, it's not happening.
Sleep was something that seemed more of a chore than a need. He didn't need it, why should he when it would just bring a new day of torment. He was tired of it all. Had he not received his cooking time he might've just lost his mind.
Sanji was studying a new recipe, an apple pie. Sanji had never made one so he figured he could start trying. It was fascinating to him, the whole process. Every item contributing to the sweet taste of an apple pie. With its flaky, buttery crust; tart-sweet apples, and wonderful cinnamon aroma. Sanji smiled with just the thought of it. He hopes some day he could feed his sister Reiju an assortment of meals. He knows she loves strange things but he wants to introduce her to better foods that would make her smile. Reiju had only been able to try his cooking once, and that was when he was a 12. It was not fair!
Suddenly Sanji's thoughts were interrupted by a strange noise. Certainly isn't a guard, they don't usually come at night. Sanji sighed and ignored it. Maybe Squeaky, his pet mouse was doing something. Squeaky would usually make noises but not during night, but who knows.
Sanji got up, curiosity getting the better of him and he peeked through his bars into the corridor of cells. He heard more shuffling but saw no one there.
Sanji shook his head, maybe being in this cell was finally causing him to hallucinate. He decided to go to his bed to receive the warmth of his thin blanket. He longed for warmth, and this blanket was his only warmth. 'So cold..' he thought. He wrapped himself up and laid down on his hard 'bed'. If you can even call it a bed. It was it had almost no mattress, holes becoming bigger and bigger as the years go by.
He later there cuddling his body in the little warmth. He looked around his cell, finding that he was bored of laying down. He observed the mess of his cell. Books laid everywhere, cooking books and fighting comics. He looks towards his desk and sees the book he takes extra care in.
"The Tale of All Blue"
Sanji had been given it by his sister as a gift. He fell in love with it the moment he saw the ocean on the cover. Then he read it, and he read it and read it. Day after day he read it again and again. Finding it so intriguing. Fish from all over the world. All in one spot? It sounded impossible but what if it was true?
Sanji smiles, maybe when he gets out he can go on an adventure. Cook for people, meet new people, try new foods! The possibilities of it were endless. But it's just a dream.
All of a sudden he hears a loud explosion, he hears loud noises outside. 'This late at night?' Sanji knows that Judge trains night and day but he'd never heard a sound like that. "Weird..." He croaks out. Sanji gets up from the comfort of his blanket and looks out his cell.
Then he sees him.
A young boy with a strawhat. He was looking through chests but seemed disappointed. There were few bits of treasure in there but it looked like he didn't want that. He kept putting his stomach and sighing. Sanji smiles, his first customer! Although the kid looked to be a pirate he didn't mind, he would serve anybody that was hungry.
Sanji cleared his throat, "E-Excuse me.."
The kid looked up, god his eyes looked so innocent, he just resonated with kindness. "Eh? Who are you? Why are you in a cell?" The kid walks forward towards his cell. He places his strawhat behind his neck and comes up to Sanji.
Sanji almost cried he hadn't seen many people and it'll be his first customer!?
"You seem h-hungry... I can't cook m-much but... I can cook something.." Sanji muttered, knowing he couldn't speak for long.
"Okay! Cook me something with meat!" The kid smiled and put his thumb up.
Sanji smiles, he quickly moves to his small kitchen. 'What to make?' 'Which would be like' He decided on a simple meat on bone recipe. He grabs the ingredients and begins.
He grabs the chicken drumsticks and makes them into tulips. He cuts the meat loose from the handle and then he rolls the meat down until it's fully inside out.
In another bowl he soaks the breadcrumbs in milk. He kneads the mix and then adds more breadcrumbs. Then he folds the meat around a hardboiled egg and lightly covers it all with the mixture he made.
Finally he bakes it at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, checking on it occasionally.
After the time was up the kid was salivating, the smell was good but Sanji shouldn't trust the smell alone. He prepared a plate and handed it to the young boy.
"Thanks!" The kid took a bite and his eyes shine brightly. "MMM" The kid ate the whole thing at once, bone and everything... He handed the plate back "More!"
Sanji smiled, "Y-Yes!" He quickly went back and made more.
After another 3 rounds of meat, the kid finally seemed satisfied. Sanji laughed. The kid tilted his head. Sanji noticing his confusion said, "You're my first customer and you set the record for eating the most" Sanji laughed more, knowing he won't likely get another customer.
The kid seemed confused but laughed. More banging was heard outside. "They sure are rowdy, I told them to be quiet." Sanji tilted his head, the kid didn't go further though. "What are you doing in there anyways?" The kid asked, looking inside his cell. "J-Judge doesn't like to see me," he knocked on his helmet. "That's why I got t-this." The kid seemed upset. He furrowed his eyebrows and pursed his lips.
"Do you want to get out?" The kid asks innocently.
Sanji states at him, he sighs and shakes his head. "There's no p-point, there's nowhere for me to go and J-Judge will find me.." Sanji looks down, the helmet weighing him down.
"Join me then!" Sanji looked up, seeing the boys bright smile. It gave him hope.
"It's still i-impossible, Judge is strong.. I don't want people getting hurt o-over me." Sanji picked at his fingers, as much as he wanted to go he couldn't.
"I'm strong too! I'll become king of the pirates one day!" The young boy beamed. Sanji believed it, he believed the boy could do it. He could feel some sort of powerful energy radiating off him.
This boy, was strong. He might be able to free Sanji.
Sanji could be free.
