I can't speak, I can barely think, Emby wake up please! I shake her and shake her, she's been asleep for hours now, please wake!
...finally, she blinks and slowly opens her eyes, and the moment her vision finally focuses on me, I'm on her in a hug. Her arms wrap around me, and feel so much colder than they usually do. Her voice is cracked and I can tell she's scared, confused. We both are. "Yoch... where- what happened?"
After a moment longer in the hug, I break it to sign to her, finally. I can feel it's too hot in this small room we're in, no window, just a small bed and desk, with a lamp and a couple of kids books.
'The cop brought us here. Said we would be safe if we listened, and put you in here. I had to stay with you. He said... said... words I don't know. I'm scared.'
In a moment, she's got me in a hug again, my head buried in her chest, still shorter than her but slowly gaining on her height. "We'll be fine... we'll be fine... I swear..."
As I lean into her hug, I slowly have a realization that makes this so much worse... 'Vix... is gone...'
Beginning to break down, I cry into her chest, not even noticing, or caring, as I soak her black shirt in tears. Losing my single personal thing, the one thing I owned and had in this world other than Ember? I just... why? why? why..."
__No horrid situation is without a silver lining.__
It's been a day, and Yochi has woken back up. The room we're in, and building as a whole likely, is warmed. It's a nice change from the cold outdoors, so at least there's that. But.. it's still depressing we're imprisoned once again. Maybe these fucks won't try experimenting or killing us like the last time.
Chuckling a bit to myself at how stupid that hope is, Yochi just looks at me confused, earning a small pat on the head. "Sorry, just thought something stupid."
'Why laugh?'
"Because... I don't know. I think it makes me feel better about it."
With a small nod, she cuddles into my side yet again. Still scared, but being so close to me helps somewhat. I can only imagine what's going through her mind. I hope she's-
A creak of the door breaks me from my train of thought. Yochi's tail tucks between her legs as my wings curl around her protectively, the shadows already seeming darker than they were before... as the door opens, and the cop can be seen there, wearing some odd getup with a robe, giving us both a calm smile.
"I'm sure you two are scared. You're not in trouble or danger, I just want to learn more about you two. Is that okay?"
Yochi is silent and still, so of course, I need to take charge. I don't know what to say, what to do, so I panic. Say the first thing that comes to mind, first that fits the situation, what would dad say?
"Fuck off."
Yochi flinches a bit and pushes into me tighter.
"Sorry, but I'm afraid I can't do that. If you cooperate, though, I could bring you two some food and warmer clothes?"
I don't want to agree with this bastard. Not when he speaks like that cruel doctor did. Patronizing us. Treating us like we're beneath him, just because we're trapped and cold and hungry. I won't, I want freedom, not a new cel-
