A fast song begins playing. Mewtwo is shown flying by before Mew is shown flying by. "I wanna be the very best..." Ash is shown standing with his eyes closed. He opens his eyes as he looks up. "Like no one ever was..." Ash is zoomed out on and reveals he's standing on a Pokemon Battlefield in a gym. Light flashes and Squirtle, Cubone, Pidgeotto are shown. "To catch them is my real test..." A Pokeball is shown being thrown at Bulbasaur. "To train them is my cause!" Ash is shown cheering with Melody before Charmander is shown getting licked by Haunter and Ash is shown throwing a Pokeball. "I will travel across the land..." Ash, Pikachu, Angel as a Pikachu and Melody are shown running beside an Arcanine. "Searching far and wide..." A Rapidash is shown jumping into the air before Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres are shown flying by. Melody appears like a ghost as she looks up. A Sandshrew, Kadabra, and Charmander are shown one at a time. "Each Pokemon to understand... The Power that's inside!" Ash is shown sitting on a Lapras as a Gyrados jumps out of the water followed by a Dragonair. A Pokeball is shown locking before Pikachu is shown dodging an Ekans attack. "Pokemon, gotta catch 'em all!" Caterpie is shown getting attacked by Ekans and Wheezing before Melody's Umbreon jumps forward tackling Ekans. "It's you and me!" Light flashes and Ash and Melody are shown hugging their Pikachu. "I know it's my destiny! POKEMON!" A Tentacruel is shown destroying a building and Ash is shown holding up a Pokeball. "Oh! You're my best friend!" Onix is shown roaring before Misty and Brock are shown moving into view and Melody jumps onto Ash's back messing with his cheeks like a typical big sister. "In a world we must defend!" Jessie, James, Ekans, Wheezing & Meowth are shown before Gary is shown with a Pokeball. "Pokemon, gotta catch'em all!" Charizard is shown using flamethrower, Blastoise is shown using Hydro Pump and Venasaur is shown before Pikachu and Angel are shown running past Ash and jumping over Melody. "Our courage will pull us through!" Delia, Professor Oak, Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy are shown smiling and nodding. "You teach me and I'll teach youuuuu!" The group is shown dodging Charizard's attack before Squirtle is shown running and jumping into Ash's arms. "POKEMON!" The Pokemon belonging to the group is shown. "Gotta catch 'em all! Gotta catch them all!" Ash is shown throwing a Pokeball before it bumps into the title. "POKEMON!" Melody is shown resting her hand on Ash's head as Pikachu and Angel are shown on their shoulders as they grinned, standing with Misty and Brock.
Ash throws the Pokeball. It hits Caterpie in the head and begins to shake. Everyone watches quietly and intently. The Pokeball locks and Melody stares with a blank expression.
"I did it! I caught Caterpie! I did it all by myself! I caught my first Pokemon! This is my first step on my way to becoming the number one Pokemon Master in the whole world!" Ash boasts randomly. Melody stood watching him. Ash cheers and spins Melody and Misty around.
"Hey! Wait a minute!" Misty complains, "I'm getting dizzy! I'm going to get sick! Quit it!"
"Look out, Pokemon. Nothing is going to stop me now." Ash exclaims.
"Ash, you're acting like a–" Misty begins then freaks out as Ash shoves the ball into her face.
"Inside this ball is the very first Pokemon I ever caught in my whole entire life." Ash states.
"Yep, congrats, Ash." Melody says.
"Great. Just keep it away from me, will you?" Misty pleads.
"You're not afraid of an itty-bitty Caterpie in a Pokeball, are you?" Ash mocks.
"Bugs get me all bugged out, even when they're in a Pokeball." Misty cries out before yelling, "JUST KEEP IT AWAY!"
"I like bugs even if they're not in Pokeballs." Ash states, "It must be great for Caterpie inside the Pokeball, all cute and comfortable inside there. I love my new little Pokemon." He rubs the ball against his face.
