The door to Shaurya's room creaked open, and he stepped inside, closing it quietly behind him. The wedding rituals had finally concluded, and the house had settled into a hushed stillness. The heavy weight of the day's events lingered in the air, but Shaurya's thoughts were entirely focused on the woman lying on the bed.
In the soft glow of the bedside lamp, Shaurya caught sight of Kanishqa. She was still dressed in her exquisite red bridal lehenga, its intricate embroidery glimmering under the dim light. But what caught his attention wasn't the elaborate outfit-it was her.
Kanishqa lay there, her delicate features softened by sleep, her long lashes casting shadows over her cheeks. Her hair, adorned with jewelry, was slightly disheveled, and her lips were parted ever so slightly as soft, rhythmic snores escaped her.
Shaurya moved closer, his footsteps barely making a sound on the carpeted floor. He stood by the bed, looking down at her, an unexpected wave of tenderness washing over him. The day had been overwhelming for both of them, and now, seeing her like this-so vulnerable, so unguarded-stirred something deep within him.
"Why can't I get you out of my head?"
His gaze traveled over her face, taking in every detail. The faint blush on her cheeks, the way her lips curved into a subtle, almost innocent pout as she slept, and the slight rise and fall of her chest as she breathed. She looked like his charm, ethereal and perfect, but the way she was curled up in an awkward position, still in her heavy bridal attire, pulled at his heart.
He sighed softly and leaned down, his hands gentle as he adjusted her position on the bed. Shaurya carefully lifted her head, removing the heavy jewelry that adorned it, and placed it aside.
He untangled her dupatta, draping it loosely over her, and shifted her legs so she could lay more comfortably. As he did this, he couldn't help but marvel at how delicate she seemed, despite the strength she had shown throughout the day.
