LOVE TO HATE ME

Chapter 1.

Olivia

" Go back to that incident. Go back to that day, 3rd May, 2018. Are you seeing yourself ? " The voice echoes.

" Yes. I am standing by the roadside waiting for Sanjana. "

" Where is Sanjana? "

" She went to buy my favourite choco chips ice cream. "

"And then ?"

" She is coming out of the store, waving at me. I smile in happiness. My sister finally came after two years. She is now crossing the road. " My body starts to shake.

" Clam down, Olivia. You okay. Tell me what you are seeing. "

" A truck is coming towards her, honking loudly. Before i could understand anything the truck hit Sanjana. My sister is lying on the road lifelessly. There's blood everywhere. She is lying in the pool of blood. My sister is looking at me. " I snapped my eyes open.

My throat goes dry. I can't form any words.

" Drink this. " Dr. Roychowdhury hands me a glass of water.

I take it and gulp down the water.

" Now that you've already seen everything, tell me Olivia do you still believe that you caused the accident ? "

" But I was there. "

" Answer me, Olivia. Do you still believe that you caused the accident? "

" No " I whisper.

" Congratulations. " Dr. Roychowdhury smiles.

But i couldn't smile back. I have been visiting Dr. Roychowdhury's clinic for the past six years. From the day 1 he is encouraging me to live, keep feeding me lies that i didn't kill my sister.

But I didn't believe him. I was there at the spot. I saw that truck coming but couldn't utter a word. Before i could scream it already hit my sister.

" You've recovered a lot. Now focus on your dad's business. And stop taking sleeping pills. I don't need them anymore. "

" What about those nightmares, Doctor. They will eat me alive. " I protest.

I can't sleep without taking pills. They have become my solace.

" Trust me you don't need them anymore. Now go and give your parents the good news. They have been worried for six years. " He holds my shoulder and gives it a light squeeze.

I leave the clinic and head towards home. Mom and dad must be very happy to hear that their daughter has become normal.

You are such an awful daughter, Olivia. They gave you so much love and in return you just make them worry. You are a disgrace to Diwans. Now don't embrass them anymore and go.

I shake my head and get out of the car.

I soon as I open the door and walk inside, mom pulls me closer.

" Dr. Roychowdhury informed us everything. I'm very proud of you,beta. You are my strong daughter. " She keeps kissing my cheeks.

" It took six years to your strong daughter to overcome the depression, mom. Do you still think I'm strong ? " My voice muffles.

" Of course you are strong. " Dad comes behind us.

" You suffered enough my daughter. Now focus on your life. Find a boyfriend, have fun , go to the parties then take the burden of my shoulder and let me retire. " He says wiping off my tears.
