ADDIE
"Can I have some?", Winnie asks, eyeing the coffee.
Aria shakes her head, as Yvonne hands the girl the hot chocolate instead. She scoffs disappointed, yet smiles approving at the whipped cream on top.
"I made the mistake to start watching Gilmore Girls with her", Aria explains. "My Mom and I used to watch series together all the time when I was little. We still do that whenever I have the chance to get back home. Gilmore Girls used to be one of our all-time favourites. I didn't think it would leave such an impact."
"Blond boys are the best", Winnie adds smirking, whipped cream all around her mouth.
Yvonne, whose own husband is blond, nods to back her up. "That's right, sweetie." She then winks at Aria: "I don't know what magic Gilmore Girls worked, but keep it up, babe."
"I also used to be Team Tristan", I find myself saying. Aria and Yvonne look surprised at my confession, or that I decided to want to talk to them at all, Winnie only lifts up her cup and says: "Cheers."
"Best team", Yvonne is the first one to shake it off. "I'm sad they cut him off so quickly."
"They always let the good ones go", Aria joins her mourning. "Look at Nate and Serena."
"Gossip Girl?", I ask interested.
She nods. Winnie adds an "XOXO".
"Dear Lord, Aria", Yvonne chuckles. I can't help but join her.
"What can I say? My daughter has a great taste in series", she tries to act innocent. It's then she brushes her a kiss on her forehead, and Winnie cuddles closer to her. The two of them are sharing the couch, Yvonne and I on the opposite side, each of us on a chair.
"So, tell us, Addie", Aria begins. I am honestly a bit afraid of what will come. "Where are you from?"
Oh, okay. Didn't see that one coming. "Kansas City."
"Oh", she lets out. "I know someone from there, one of my uncles." She takes a sip from her coffee, then adds: "I'm from New York."
"No way."
"Yeah. Born and raised. My Mom is from London, but my Dad is from the States. So I was born and raised in New York City."
"London?", I can't help but react to that. "That's so cool. I've always wanted to visit it."
"I know someone from London", Winnie decides to join the conversation.
Aria rolls her eyes and comes to whisper in her ear, yet all of us hear. "Not now, honey. Now isn't the moment."
"Okay, sorry", Winnie agrees. It's then she innocently raises up her hands and says: "I was just going to say Chris."
Oh dear Lord
"Oh, Winnie", Aria again. "Not the moment."
I don't know whether Yvonne wants to roll her eyes or start laughing.
"I didn't know he is from London", I lie. I damn well knew. He told me that night.
When the two of us still talked.
"Oh, you didn't?" Yvonne asks. "Yeah, he is from there."
"London Boy", Winnie smirks. "Like Taylor said."
How did she know I liked Taylor? Honestly, that girl seems to be a mastermind.
But it's then Aria gasps too. "Oh my God, you also have friendship bracelets."
Oh
That explains a lot.
"Yeah", I say, pointing them at her. She shows me the one she made with black and blue beads and Lewis's name, then the one she made with lighter and darker pink beads, that has an "A" then a golden heart, then a "W". I notice a matching one on Winnie's arm.
"Mommy loves Taylor", Winnie explains. "We always make bracelets together."
"You should join us once", Aria invites me.
I nod, honestly thinking I should one time.
"What else do you listen to?", Yvonne asks interested.
I shrug, making circles with the small spoon in my coffee. "Harry Styles, Gracie... You know."
"Great", Yvonne lets out. "By the end of this season, you'll add one more to the list. Lana. I'll make sure of it."
It's two things I notice. One, that she obviously likes Lana. And two: that she actually meant that. Meaning, she sees us actually spending time together during this season.
I take a sip from my coffee just as I see Winnie smirk. Then say an "XOXO" and mime a kiss.
I don't have to ask her who she had in mind.
