I awoke to everyone yelling and stressing out. I got up off the very uncomfortable bed in my clothes from yesterday, I had forgotten to change last night. Aiden spotted me awake and walks over. He places his hand in front of mine, "milady?" I look around to see all the boys hanging out in our room. Quinn sees me and Aiden talking.
Quinn pushes past Aiden and smiles, "I'm sorry about yesterday. Layla and I never fight."
Everyone seems to hear that and they all look at Quinn with unsure faces.
"Since when?" Says Tyler, tying his shoes up. We all laugh, even Bailey, Quinn's face is pushed back in astonishment.
"We don't!" She says back at tyler, obviously annoyed.
Tyler shakes his head, giving up on the dumb conversation. Everyone goes back to talking. From across the room I see Layla chatting with Bailey. Layla smiles and Bailey hugs her. My brain cracks a little. Aiden looks back at me and smiles.
"Bailey dated Layla's brother you know." Says Aiden. I looked up at him in confusion.
"I wouldn't have ever guessed you like to gossip." I say. I stand up and brush the lint of my pants from the mattress.
He smirks, "it's not gossip if it's true."
His words hit me like a basketball. "You wouldn't know." I respond, pushing past him. I walk up to Layla.
"Don't the boys have their own rooms?" I ask.
She nods, "uh-huh. They just like to chill in here since their room has no couch." She says eyeballing all of them.
"We could move to the common room." Says Bailey. She smiles at me.
"No, I just want them out." I say. Layla stops smiling and immediately looks at all of them.
"This is our room boys, can you get it out just for now? " The boys look astonished at Layla's Command.
They all get up, even Thomas, who was in the moment making out with Justine on her bed.
Aiden sticks his tongue out and spits at us. The boys follow his lead and spit at us. We all laugh at them humiliating themselves.
"Why'd you want them out?" Bailey asks after they all are out.
I sigh, "Aiden pissed me off. I wanted him out."
Layla gives me an understanding look. Then she says, "yeah, he does that."
The other girls murmur in agreement.
I walk over to the couch and lay face down on it. Layla walks up to the couch as well and Pat's my back. "You good?" She asks.
My mind melds to that awful day. I was 12 years old going on a field trip with the day camp I had been going to. We were visiting wayward splash zone water park. I was so excited, that only lasted about five seconds. I remember this girl named lilac, she treated me like shit. While I was waiting in line for lunch, she started telling people I had been kissing Jerry pines in the janitors closet back at camp for the past month. I was humiliated. The worst part was that it was true. He was the first boy to ever like me, the only boy Infact in my entire life to lay eyes on me. Of course stupid lilac Stuart ruined that for me.
Everyone called me a kiss and go for the rest of camp, even Jerry. It sucked, so there I was, the weird girl making friendship bracelets for the friends I never made.
That's why Aiden's words stung me. Gossip could be true. Gossip made me hate myself and become a bitter person.
I get up off the couch and wipe my tears I automatically cried. "I wasn't supposed to cry here." I say.
