MIDNIGHT RAIN
006 ⭑ ( london, uk ) .ᐟFaith was moving at a glacial pace, every motion deliberate and slow, almost as if she was trying to drag out their time in the bathroom. Violet didn't want to be rude, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
"Faith... is something wrong?" Violet asked, her tone cautious. She had known Faith long enough to sense when something was up.
Faith forced out a laugh, the sound a little too high-pitched and strained. "What? No, nothing's wrong!"
Violet raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced. "We've been in here for 20 minutes."
"Only 20?!" Faith blurted out before her eyes widened in realization. "I mean... 20 minutes, bloody hell! Let's go!" she said quickly, fumbling with her makeup bag as she zipped it up in a hurry.
Violet laughed, still perplexed by her friend's strange behavior. "Um, okay," she said, trying to shrug off the weird vibe.
Faith ushered them out of the bathroom with a sense of urgency, silently hoping—no, praying—that Harry and the girl he'd brought were somewhere out of sight, preferably on the balcony or maybe already gone. As they descended the stairs, Faith's heart skipped a beat when she saw Leah, Nessa, and Talia huddled near the door, their conversation heated.
Nessa was talking with a fury, her hands gesturing wildly as she vented. "How dare he, honestly?" she hissed, her voice dripping with disdain. Leah nodded along, her expression just as stormy. "Yes, it's absolute shit, but we need to focus on Operation Vi Has an Amazing Night," Leah whispered back, trying to steer the conversation toward a solution.
Talia, looking equally frustrated, crossed her arms over her chest. "How are we supposed to do that now?" she muttered, her eyes darting toward the stairs, where Faith and Violet were just coming into view.
Nessa clenched her fists, her frustration boiling over. "Get that ugly cow and his stupid bitch out of here," she spat, her voice filled with venom. Then, almost as an afterthought, she added, "She could be a lovely girl for all I know, but—his stupid bitch needs to go."
Faith's stomach twisted into knots as she realized the situation was more volatile than she'd thought. She quickly redirected Violet back to the kitchen, away from the brewing storm by the door, hoping to shield her from the drama that was unfolding just a few feet away.
Violet, still oblivious to the full extent of what was happening, followed Faith without question, though she did glance back toward the others with a curious frown. "What's going on over there?" she asked, sensing the tension but not fully understanding it.
Faith plastered on a reassuring smile, trying to keep her voice light. "Oh, probably just talking about the party," she lied smoothly. "Let's get another drink, yeah?"
Violet hesitated for a moment, but eventually nodded. "Yeah, okay."
As they moved back into the kitchen, Faith silently cursed Harry for showing up and disrupting what was supposed to be a fun, drama-free night. But she was determined not to let him or anyone else ruin Violet's evening. She just hoped the rest of the girls could keep the situation under control long enough for them to steer clear of any confrontations.
