The beginning of this is the same to the prologue.
The sun shone through my window early in the morning, catching my eye slightly causing me to toss and turn in my bed to block out the ray of light. I soon realised that it was morning and whether or not I had to get up to do my daily chores, I'm the only child left from my family as my two older siblings have already left for their own families leaving me to take care of our parents.
Even though I'm the only one left out the three of us I prefer staying home and helping my parents with the daily chores which they cannot do anymore because of their age, getting married and settling down at the moment isn't set in my mind at anytime till I would say another ten years or more. My mother has set me up with a few guys to try and convince me to settle sown and to produce some more grandchildren for her, since the little ones bring her much joy to her heart, but unfortunately I didn't go for any of them. They were all great guys and would be perfect for someone else to have a family with, but they just weren't right for me, I am always on the look out for a guy I might like one day and maybe today could be it. I highly doubt it though.
I slowly pushed myself off of my bed and ran my hands down my face stopping at my cheeks as I let out a big yawn, my jaw clicked while doing so, before I stood up and stretched my back and my arms before moving towards the basin of water sitting on the bedside table. Cupping the water gently in my hands I threw it over my face, gently using the piece of cloth next to the basin to dry my white fur.
Soon after I was dressed in my favourite red dress with the sleeves hanging of my shoulders, attached to a black corset, not overly tight, tightened with a red ribbon with a knee length red skirt. Trotting out my room, I gradually made my way to the kitchen where my first chore would be of the day, making breakfast, opening the little cupboards we had I saw the lack of food and all we had was quarter of a loaf bread with half a jar of apricot homemade jam that I made only last week. Quickly shoving everything aside I cut the remaining loaf up into slices placed them on a wooden board slate then put it in the middle of our family table, looking at the little food we had of seven slices of bread left I decided to take one piece and leaving the rest for my parents as my father has to work in the field today, he would need his strength.
My mother walked in as I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil from the draw and began to write down what we might need to not go hungry and how much money we had, being in a farming family we really didn't have enough money to go around and waste it all. "Morning Sweetheart, what are you doing?" My mother smiled as she kissed my cheek, still tired I gave her a half smile in return, yawning a little more "Morning mother, I have prepared you and father breakfast, and found out that we needed more food, so I thought while I went out to get father's and your self's medicine I would go and get some food" Answering with a full smile now my mother looked more than worried.
"Oh you don't have to do that April, I can go and get it later" Being the youngest of our family does take a toll on my mother sometimes when it comes to walking all the way to the town by myself, even though I am eighteen years old now and can take care of myself sometimes. "Don't worry mother it is still morning and I'm not leaving just yet, not until I have said goodbye to father, I'm full grown woman now and I can take care of myself and you know perfectly well that I won't do anything to harm myself." My voice barely a whisper as I hugged her to keep herself calmed down after letting her go I offered her a cup of milk talking to her a bit before my father came out, I said my farewells before I had the same chat again with my father which would have been a little worse. I chuckled a bit I exited through the front door as I imagined that conversation going through my head and my father ranting on about safety for a girl like me.
Well to tell you now my name is April and when my father says a 'girl like me' it doesn't mean that in a mean way at all its just because I am a anthronian which is a breed of half dog and half cat behaviours with all body black fur with a face mask of white fur and a cute little red nose. Being one of these breeds can either have a good effect on people or a bad effect, the good effect is that our royal family is a family of anthronians and because of them show royalty and upper class, but because of this you get easily judged, the bad effects is that the further you get into town the lower respect you would get, because we would all be seen as being snobby and uptight. I haven't bumped into any people like this yet and I think the reason why, because I know everyone who lives in the town so they all know of my personality.
