Caroline chugged down another shot of throat-burning liquor from the crystal glass cup in her hand, hoping to drink away the feeling of foolishness she felt.
The baby vamp was currently at the Mystic Grill, alone, trying out every drink that had another term for the word alcohol in it.
She couldn't quite exactly remember just how much alcohol she had consumed. But then again, she was a vampire, it felt impossible to even get herself even a little bit tipsy with so much as three bottles of the strongest whiskey.
She was celebrating, anyways.
Celebrating the fact that girly-little-Caroline didn't fully suffocate in the hospital that day.
Because she was, once again, attracted -okay, more than attracted- to yet another man who didn't want her either. Yet, his little mind games of stringing her along when he needed something never seemed to end.
And being her shallow little pathetic self, Caroline always falls for it, thinking it might be different every other time.
No, Caroline would never give out whatever information she knew shouldn't be said to him.
But what she didn't realize before, is that a simple small talk is all it took for the hybrid to achieve what he actually needed.
Because he's Klaus Mikaelson; the ruthless hybrid who cared for no other feelings than his own.
Who liked playing games with people. Who also knew exactly how she felt about him.How is it possible to hate yet love someone at the same time?
She'd at least think that by being rejected so much before, this time wouldn't pain her so much.
Nope, she thought, still hurts like hell.
Because, once again, she was shallow, naive and wasn't enough.
still Isn't enough.
And at this point, she was losing every bit of hope that she'll ever be enough for someone. The blonde scoffed at herself. Because, being desired for, -for long at least- wasn't her best characteristic.
She wasn't Elena"And what do we have here." a husky voice spoke behind her. It sounded amused, it carried deceit with it, it reeked of trouble.
Of course it was Klaus.
Caroline froze. Mentally scolding herself for reacting to his voice; for even acknowledging it.
Taking a deep breath, the blonde compelled herself another glass of rum, trying her best to ignore the presence of the hybrid who was now in the seat next to her."Celebrating, I see." the original -who she was trying so hard to ignore- said. "Quite funny. I never thought an innocent, sweet, little creature like you would ever compel humans for self-desired reasons." Klaus spoke nonchalantly.
She had to breathe through her nose to stay calm.
"What do you want Klaus? you have Elena and her blood, you have the Salvatores humbly serving you in exchange for keeping the love of their life safe from the new hunter in town," Caroline turned her head, now fully facing the him. "So what is it this time? because if you came here to get some kind of new information, I'm going to disappoint you."Klaus kept the same stoic expression for a full minute before a cynical smile stretched his lips. He leaned closer.
"I'm afraid that's where you're wrong, love," the blonde watched the hybrids gaze dart down on her lips and back up, boring into her eyes. "You know a lot more than you care to admit."
