Even though she knows better than to get too close without permission, Jamie can't resist leaning against his side just enough to catch a glimpse of whatever information he plans on sharing.What kind of secret could possibly apply to our situation here?

Jamie feels her blood run cold as the full implications of Alex's confession wash over her. Her mind reels, struggling to process the fact that everything leading up to this moment was orchestrated by him.So...so you mean to tell me that none of this was an accident? she whispers, her voice trembling with a mix of shock and disbelief, You planned all of this...just to get me under your control?A wave of nausea hits her as she realizes just how thoroughly manipulated she's been. All those times she thought she had a choice, that she was somehow in charge of her own destiny...it was all a lie.I can't believe this... Jamie mutters, shaking her head in disbelief, How could you do something like that to me?

The combination of Alex's harsh laughter and his blunt admission leaves Jamie feeling dizzy and sick to her stomach. His words hit her harder than any physical blow ever could.Y-you love me? she stammers out incredulously, But how can you say that when you've treated me like this?Even though part of her wants to deny his claim outright, another part of her - the part that craves affection and validation - can't help but be touched by his declaration.And why should I believe anything you say anyway? Jamie swallows hard, trying to process the depth of Alex's feelings for her. On one hand, she can't deny that there's a certain twisted logic behind his actions. He truly believes that his love for her is pure and unselfish.But...but isn't it wrong to manipulate someone into loving you? she asks softly, Isn't that kind of love fake?Even as she questions him, however, Jamie can't ignore the warmth spreading through her chest at his words. Despite everything that's happened between them so far, part of her can't help but respond positively to such strong declarations of affection.If you really care about me...then shouldn't we be equals instead of master-slave?

Jamie nods slowly, understanding Alex's reasoning even if she doesn't agree with it. She knows deep down that he genuinely cares for her; otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to such lengths to ensure their privacy.Okay... she finally says after a long pause, I guess I can see where you're coming from.Yet despite accepting his explanation, Jamie remains unconvinced about giving up her independence entirely. She's always been independent and fiercely protective of her freedom.Just promise me one thing though... her voice softens considerably, Please don't push me too far or force me into doing things I'm not ready for yet.I hope he understands what I mean by that.
