Kiem's hand hovered over the letter, anticipation tingling in his fingertips. Suddenly, a flicker of movement at the window caught his eye. A small brown bird with a speckled breast perched on the sill, its head cocked as if observing him intently.

This unexpected visitor broke the spell of the moment. Kiem set the envelope down on the bed, his curiosity piqued. He hadn't seen many birds around the farmhouse lately. Perhaps the bird was lost, or maybe it simply held a curiosity about the old house.

Sunlight streamed through a chipped windowpane, casting a warm rectangle on the dusty floorboards. A single, spiderweb crack marred the otherwise clear glass, like a delicate fault line etched across a precious gem. The window itself was slightly warped with age, the wood frame hinting at countless seasons endured. Despite the small imperfection, the window offered a clear view of the world outside, a silent invitation to gaze upon the sprawling fields or the vibrant dance of leaves in the autumn breeze.

Kiem moved towards the window, careful not to startle the bird. He crouched down to get a better look. What did it see? Was it trying to tell him something? As he inched closer, the mystery of the letter momentarily pushed aside, a sense of wonder filled him.

Out of the corner of his eye, Kiem spotted a glint of metal on the window frame. He shifted his focus, noticing a small, intricate keyhole nestled beneath a chipped layer of paint. This was new. He didn't remember a keyhole being there before.

Intrigued, Kiem stood back up and scanned the room. Could there be another hidden compartment, one he hadn't noticed before? The farmhouse seemed to be full of surprises. The bird at the window chirped again, as if urging him to continue his exploration. Kiem couldn't help but smile. Maybe his day had just taken an unexpected turn.

Kiem furrowed his brow. "Why is there a keyhole here?" he muttered to himself. The unexpected discovery of the keyhole snagged his attention, diverting him from the bird at the window for a moment.

The farmhouse, once familiar, now seemed full of secrets. The hidden compartment in the bed, the letter from his father, and now this new keyhole – they all hinted at a deeper mystery waiting to be unraveled.

Kiem's hand instinctively went to his pocket, where the key from his father's desk rested. Could it be the key to this new lock as well? Or was there another key waiting to be found?

Kiem's brow furrowed in concentration. He cautiously reached for the key in his pocket, the cool metal a familiar weight in his palm. His gaze flickered between the key and the keyhole, a silent question hanging in the air. With a sigh, he tested the key, turning it gently in the lock. It didn't budge.

"As expected," he murmured to himself, a hint of disappointment tingeing his voice. The key from the desk wasn't the answer here. This new mystery demanded a different solution.

Kiem straightened up, his gaze sweeping the room. The farmhouse, once a place of comforting memories, now thrummed with a hidden energy. A puzzle lay before him, its pieces scattered and waiting to be assembled. A spark of determination ignited within him. He wouldn't give up so easily.

Kiem's curiosity about the new keyhole battled with the persistent urge to finally read his father's letter. The weight of the unknown hung heavy in the air, but the promise of a message from his father was undeniable.

With a deep breath, Kiem decided to prioritize his father's words. He settled back down on the bed, the envelope held reverently in his hands. The red wax seal seemed to hold a lifetime of unspoken emotions. He carefully broke the seal, his heart pounding in anticipation.

What message did his father have for him? What secrets might the letter reveal? Kiem unfolded the aged paper, his eyes eager to devour the words that danced across the page.
