As a kitten, Sasha had loved to listen to her mother's stories. Her favorite was Tale of the Six Elements. The way her mother would change her voice to add suspense and depth, unlike her father who had no idea how to tell a story, she could make even the most easily distracted kittens pay attention.
But she would never forgive them, not after what they did.
The light blue cat sighed and continued her flight over the snowcapped mountain peaks.
She pulled her paws out in front of her and prepared for landing. The familiar, stoney ground hit her dark blue paw pads, the wind ruffing her feathers.
Feathers. One of a sky cat's signature features. Water cats had scales, forest cats and fire cats had fur. Sky cats had feathers.
Sasha had pure white wings and the rest of her was blue, slightly lighter than the sky, and faded to a darker colour along her paws, tail and the three long feathers she'd draped over her face. She did it when she was a kitten.
After the incident.
It made her stand out though. Sasha didn't really want to stand out but she liked the look enough to keep it.
It suited her. It also got her the nickname 'emo' but she didn't give a fuck about it.
Just like how the small cave she called home suited her. It was different to the fancy homes most of the sky cats had. Instead of tall pillars and marble floors, she had a stone house in the side of a mountain. Two rooms, wider than they were tall. She'd added her own spark to it and was completely happy with it.
She wasn't the same as the others, why should it be? She wasn't an ordinary sky cat.
She was their caller.
She'd never told anyone. Her parents never knew, they were gone before she found out.
It has returned. New but old. The wind whistled. Sasha was the only one who could hear it. Some would say being able to talk to your element would be cool but she found it really, really, annoying.
The wind was never helpful. It only whispered riddles and left her dumber than she was before.
New and old? She retorted bitterly, Wow! Really helpful! Totally know what that means!
No reply. Never was. It said it's silly message then never spoke again. Well, not never. Just whenever she needed it the least.
Like when she'd gotten attacked by a mountain lion it had said a week before: beware! Four paws bigger than yours crush the wind!
She couldn't call it a nuisance (because she's known about the 'voice' since she could understand communication) instead she called it her fenamy. Friend and enemy, more so enemy but still!
It was really annoying!
A high-pitched yapping caught her attention as something rammed into her side.
"Hi, Floppies!" Sasha cooed as her pet nezzled their nose into her feathers.
The Fuzzle made happy purr sounds as they wound themselves around her front paws.
Fuzzle's were popular pets in the sky kingdom. The little balls of fluff were great companions as they apparently didn't require much food or attention. But obviously her's had missed the memo.
While all the other Fuzzle's the caller met were laid back and calm, her's on the other paw, would constantly make high-pitched barks and yaps 'till it got the attention it seemed. And about the food-
