snowy days and dentists

I let my fingers linger around the edges of the newest addition to my wall; this picture was different than the others. Unique in so many ways but the most obvious one was that it was of a boy close to my age maybe 17 or 18 I know it sounds ordinary but I never take pictures of people. I didn't really mean to take one of him, it just happened.

"Lydia get over it" Emerson urged as she snapped her fingers at me mockingly.

Emerson had no right to be talking; after all she does have a long history of staring off into space. Unfortunately that space is often occupied by someone, resulting in some very awkward moments. Em promptly and forcefully ripped the picture off my wall, which I snatched away from her before placing it back in its spot.

"There's nothing to 'get over'" I grumbled back at her making it clear that me and lover boy had a very nonexistent relationship, after all I'd only met him once.

Earlier that morning id been walking with Brit to her dentist appointment, I know lame but she had a crippling fear of dentists so being the great friend I am I had agreed to accompany her. Despite it only being 7 am when Brit had woken me up I was actually in a good mood, which is saying something because I'm not exactly a morning person. But with a cup of coffee in hand and my favorite beanie on top of my loose curls I'd confidently danced out the door this morning.

My day had started out absolutely perfect, for starters it was winter my favorite season ever. Not to mention that it had just started to snow and now the ground was covered in some kind of white blanket. As we walked there was a guitarist sitting at the side of the road playing "give me love" by Ed Sheeran one of my favorites.

Unfortunately at that point in the day I had no clue I was about to majorly screw some things up. I had my camera up to my eye and I was about to take a picture of a tree whose branches were slowly sinking as they were covered in coat after coat of snow. As I said earlier I don't like to take pictures of people mostly because in my experience people tend to destroy beauty rather than creating it. But right as I heard a satisfying click signaling that id taken the picture I felt my head smash into to something hard and I tumbled, quite ungracefully to the ground.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry" I glanced up slowly mentally cursed myself when I made eye contact with the two most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. I shook my head feeling unsettled by the mixture of grays and blues I could only describe as more gentle than winter

"Um yeah I'm good," I sputtered out mentally slapping myself this time.

Now here's a not-so-fun fact about me.

I'm cursed with ridiculous clumsiness and as I jumped to my feet I managed to fall for yet the second time in less than a minute. Shame washed over me as my frozen butt thwacked the ground again. Ironically I couldn't stop thinking about an "assicle" the word I had just made up to describe how my ass felt like a popsicle as I once again sat pressed to the frozen ground. This time I just sat there more embarrassed than ever sending Emerson death glares for the laughter she was failing to stifle. There was a very long and extremely uncomfortable silence but before I knew it "lover boy" was lifting me up. I looked up at him, his ice blue eyes and only managed to squeak out a thank you. I grimaced realizing my voice sounded overly highpitched and he simply let out a small chuckle before I was dragged away by Brit who was whining something about being late

Once we were a safe distance away from the mystery boy and the site of my unfortunate accident Emerson attacked me with questions after all they'd only witnessed a small portion of my embarrassing display.

"He was totally hot" Em hissed.

On the other hand Brit seemed to be completely oblivious to the whole thing and she innocently asked
