Have you ever thought that the moment you fall asleep, you've already left Earth?

It was a rainy morning.

The electronic alarm clock beeped for twenty-nine seconds before the sleeping person finally opened their eyes.

Bai Tian stretched out her hand from under the covers and turned off the alarm. With her eyes open, she lay on the bed, staring at the bright yellow chandelier hanging from the ceiling, momentarily unable to distinguish where she was.

Of course, she wouldn't fail to recognize that this was her home, her bedroom, and the ceiling she saw every morning when she woke up.

She was just still immersed in her dream, confusing it with reality.

She fished her phone out from under the pillow. The cool, smooth touch gave Bai Tian an inexplicable sense of relief.

Pressing the unlock button and looking at the date and time, she sat up, grabbed her nightgown from the chair beside her, and slowly got out of bed.

The pain in her upper thigh from the ligament strain a few days ago still lingered, making it awkward to walk.

"Everything is going wrong," Bai Tian mumbled as she walked into the bathroom and picked up her toothbrush and toothpaste.

The minty flavor filled her mouth, and she squinted her eyes, somewhat enjoying the cool and refreshing stimulation of her taste buds.

While brushing her teeth, Bai Tian casually turned off the flight mode on her phone. Immediately, several voice messages popped up.

She frowned, swiped open the messages, and sure enough, there were several one-minute-long voice messages.

Bai Tian spat out the foam, rinsed her mouth, wiped her face, and then picked up her phone to turn on text-to-speech.

A few minutes later, Bai Tian called the head teacher.

"Hello? This is Bai Tian. I'm calling about the message this morning. About going to S City to grade the papers, I actually wrote a leave request the day before yesterday because I need to go out of town. Do you think..."

The person on the other end of the phone interrupted her. Bai Tian held the doorknob and patiently listened to the other party rambling on and on.

"Yes, yes, I understand, but..." Her words were interrupted again.

Bai Tian took a deep breath and twisted the doorknob hard.

The person on the other end was probably still on the road, and the noisy traffic drowned out the human voice, so she had to try hard to make out what the other person was saying, lest she miss something.

Ten minutes later, Bai Tian hung up the phone and ran her fingers through her hair in frustration.

"Everything is going wrong," she muttered again, and then sighed, opened the refrigerator, and started making breakfast.

She simply fried an egg, heated half a cup of milk, and took a triangular onigiri that was about to expire from the refrigerator and put it in the microwave. Bai Tian carried the plate and cup into the living room, sat down at the small square table, and turned on the TV to watch the news.

The financial news was over, so she switched channels casually and heard the microwave beep. She quickly ran over and took out the onigiri.

The aroma of tuna wafted into her nose, and Bai Tian carefully tore open the packaging and slowly walked back to the living room.

"...Recently, the highly controversial film 'Songstress' has been reported to be pulled from theaters. The film's director, He Xuan, confirmed the news at 4 am this morning on Weibo. And announced that he would indefinitely terminate his cooperation with the film's lead actress. The industry is speculating that the film's withdrawal is related to the actress..."
