Shinobu Kocho was the epitome of perfection in the eyes of her peers. At 20 years old, she was admired by nearly everyone at her university. With her sharp intellect, striking beauty, and a smile that could light up any room, Shinobu was the girl that every boy wanted to date and every girl wanted to be—or at least that's how it seemed.

But not everyone adored Shinobu. Brittany, Tiffany, and Georgia, a notorious trio of mean girls, couldn't stand her. They envied her popularity, her grace, and the way she effortlessly attracted attention without even trying. The three of them would whisper behind her back, spread rumors, and do everything in their power to undermine her. Yet, Shinobu remained unfazed, handling their petty jealousy with poise.

Shinobu's family was her safe haven. She lived with her two sisters, Kanao and Kanae. Kanao, 15, was shy but had recently blossomed into her own person, thanks to her supportive and loving boyfriend, Tanjiro, who was 16. Kanae, the eldest at 22, was like a second mother to Shinobu. She was engaged to Sanemi, a 23-year-old with a rough exterior but a heart of gold. Their home was always filled with warmth and laughter, with Mitsuri, Shinobu's best friend, often joining in on the fun.

Despite Shinobu's outward perfection, she had her own struggles. She found it difficult to trust people, always wary that they liked her for what she represented rather than who she truly was. This made her somewhat aloof, particularly when it came to guys. While many tried to win her over, none had ever truly caught her interest—until Giyu Tomioka.

Giyu was everything Shinobu couldn't stand in a person—cold, distant, and seemingly indifferent to the world around him. He was known for his stoic nature and kept to himself most of the time. He didn't care about popularity or social circles, which made him an enigma to many, including Shinobu.

Their first encounter was anything but pleasant. It happened during a group project where Shinobu had been paired with Giyu. From the moment they were assigned together, tension filled the air. Giyu's detached attitude grated on Shinobu's nerves, and her sharp tongue didn't sit well with him either.

"What's your problem, Tomioka? Do you even care about this project?" Shinobu snapped after Giyu had barely contributed to their discussion.

Giyu looked at her with his usual calm expression, which only infuriated her more. "I care, Kocho. I just don't see the point in wasting time on unnecessary details."

"Unnecessary details?" she echoed, her voice laced with sarcasm. "Maybe if you actually bothered to participate, you'd understand the importance of those 'details.'"

Their arguments became a routine, with each meeting ending in frustration. But as much as they clashed, there was an undeniable tension between them—something neither of them was willing to acknowledge.

Meanwhile, Brittany, Tiffany, and Georgia watched from the sidelines, noticing the friction between Shinobu and Giyu. Sensing an opportunity, they started spreading rumors about the two, suggesting that their arguments were merely a cover for a secret romance. The rumors quickly spread through the university, much to Shinobu's annoyance and Giyu's indifference.

"Great, just what I needed," Shinobu muttered to Mitsuri one afternoon. "Now everyone thinks I'm involved with Giyu."

Mitsuri giggled, her pink hair bouncing as she shook her head. "Well, you do spend a lot of time together."

"For a group project! It's not like that," Shinobu huffed, crossing her arms.

Mitsuri gave her a knowing smile. "Sometimes, opposites attract, you know."
