Niyati pov:

I sat sipping my coffee at the cozy cafe, eagerly waiting for my boyfriend to arrive. We had plans to meet here after his college classes, and I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest thinking about seeing him. He's the star athlete of our college - handsome, charming, and popular, with a bad boy reputation that only adds to his allure. We've been dating since 10th grade, and now, in my first year of college, our relationship has only grown stronger.

Despite his tough exterior, he's incredibly sweet and caring, always looking out for me and making me feel loved. However, when he gets angry, it's a different story altogether. His temper is legendary, and even I tread carefully when I see the storm brewing in his eyes. But for now, I pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the excitement of seeing him soon.

We attended the same school, sharing the same classroom, yet our paths didn't cross until the first semester exam of 9th standard. He was the popular kid, surrounded by admirers, while I focused on my studies, driven to meet my parents' expectations. As the head boy and girl of our school, we started walking together after classes, marking the beginning of our friendship.

As time went by, our bond deepened, and we developed feelings for each other. In the final semester of 10th grade, he mustered the courage to ask me to be his girlfriend. Initially, I hesitated, unsure if I was ready for a relationship. But he persisted, wearing down my resistance with his charming smile and genuine affection. Eventually, I found myself saying yes, and we embarked on a romantic journey together.

As I gazed around the cafe, I spotted Ansh walking in, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for someone. I waved at him, and he caught sight of me, making his way to my table with a determined stride. But something was off about him today. The warmth in his eyes, which always greeted me with affection, was noticeably absent. Instead, his gaze seemed to hold a different emotion, one that I couldn't quite decipher.

I was lost in thought, trying to read his expression, when he knocked on the table, snapping me back to reality. "Where are you lost?" he asked, his voice tinged with frustration. "I've been calling your name for the past few minutes." Ansh's usual calm demeanor seemed ruffled, and I sensed that something was bothering him deeply.

"Nowhere," I replied, diverting the topic, sensing his unease. "What did you want to say?"

Ansh hesitated, his eyes darting around the cafe. "Umm...let's order first, then we'll talk about why I called you here."

His nervousness was palpable, and I wondered what was troubling him. But I decided to wait, not wanting to jump to conclusions or create a scene.

We ordered our drinks, and soon the waiter arrived with my cold coffee and Ansh's bitter Americano. As we sipped our beverages, Ansh's phone buzzed, indicating an incoming message. His forehead broke out in sweat as he read the text, and I felt a sense of foreboding.

After finishing our coffee, Ansh's expression turned solemn. "Let's break up," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

My heart sank, and I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. The words hung in the air, leaving me stunned and searching for a reason why.

"Did I hear that right? Or are my ears ringing?" I thought to myself, trying to process the words that had just left Ansh's lips. "He can't be serious. We're perfect, aren't we?"
