Christopher's POV

My heart was still racing from the training in the gardens. I'd spent hours out there, trying to burn off the nervous energy that had been building inside me all day. The moment with Star, seeing her there in the snow, her eyes soft and full of questions, had shaken something loose in me. It was like everything I'd been trying to keep under control was finally spilling out, and I couldn't stop it.

I walked through the halls of the dormitory, my thoughts a tangle of emotions I barely understood. I'd never been this nervous about anything before, not even combat training. But this was different. Tonight was different. The Codex was gone, the rules lifted. For the first time, I could actually let myself feel what I'd been fighting against for so long.

I stopped outside Star's door, hesitating for a moment. My mind flashed back to the garden, to the way her eyes had looked when I told her I was scared, to the way her touch had felt, warm and grounding. I didn't know what I was doing here, what I was going to say, but I knew I had to see her. I had to know if she felt the same.

I raised my hand and knocked, my heart pounding so loud I was sure she could hear it through the door. For a moment, there was no sound from inside, and I wondered if she'd already left, if I'd missed my chance. But then I heard a soft rustling, and the door creaked open a crack.

Star stood in the doorway, her eyes wide with surprise. She was wearing the most beautiful dress I'd ever seen, a soft blue that brought out the color of her eyes, silver embroidery that sparkled like stars against the fabric. Her hair was curled softly around her shoulders, and a delicate silver mask framed her face, making her look like something out of a dream.

My breath caught in my throat. I'd seen Star angry, annoyed, laughing, thoughtful-but I'd never seen her like this. She looked like she'd stepped out of a fairy tale, like she was made of magic and light. For a moment, I couldn't find my voice. All I could do was stare, taking in every detail, burning it into my memory.

"Christopher," she said softly, looking as surprised to see me as I felt to be there. "What are you doing here?"

I swallowed, trying to find my voice. "I... needed to see you," I said, the words coming out rougher than I intended. "Can I come in?"

She hesitated for a moment, then stepped back, opening the door wider. I walked inside, feeling the warmth of her room wrap around me, the scent of lavender lingering in the air. Star closed the door, and we were alone, the noise from the hallway fading to a distant hum.

I opened my mouth to speak, but the words got tangled up in my throat. What was I supposed to say? That seeing her like this made me forget about everything else? That I wanted to be close to her, closer than the Codex or any rules would ever allow? That I was falling for her?
