As the weeks passed, life in the village began to take on a new rhythm. The supplies from Al-Qamar had been a tremendous help, and though the drought still lingered, the people of the village no longer lived in constant fear of running out of food or water. There was a renewed sense of community, as neighbors helped each other and shared what they had.

Layla’s pregnancy continued to progress, and with it came a deeper sense of anticipation. The baby had started to move more frequently, and each flutter and kick filled her with both excitement and anxiety. She often found herself daydreaming about what life would be like once the baby arrived. Would they be able to provide for their child? Would the drought finally come to an end by then?

Omar, too, was preparing for the arrival of their child. He spent his days working harder than ever, determined to make sure they had enough to survive. Though the aid from Al-Qamar had been a blessing, he knew it wouldn’t last forever. He often discussed plans with the other men of the village, trying to come up with ways to conserve water and grow what little crops they could in the arid conditions.

One afternoon, as Omar worked in the fields, Layla sat in the shade of a tree, watching him. She admired his strength, his determination to provide for their family, despite the challenges they faced. He had never once complained, never once wavered in his resolve. In him, she saw the embodiment of sabr—patience in the face of hardship.

As the sun began to set, Omar joined her under the tree, wiping the sweat from his brow. “It’s hard to believe we’ve come this far,” he said, his voice soft.

Layla smiled, resting her hand on her growing belly. “We’ve been through so much, but we’re still standing.”

Omar nodded, his gaze drifting to the horizon. “And soon, we’ll have a new life to take care of.”

There was a moment of silence as they both contemplated the future, the uncertainty that lay ahead. But in that moment, under the fading light of the sun, they knew that whatever came their way, they would face it together.
