ROSALIE WOKE UP surrounded by warmth, surrounded by him. They were so wrapped up in each other, like ivy on stone, that it was difficult to say which limb belonged to who. Her head was tucked in the crook of his neck, and she snuggled further against him.
They spent the night cuddling and talking about their lives together, going centuries back. There were also many times of heavy makeout sessions, which left their lips puffy and pink.
The brunette heaved a sigh, contented in the bubble of comfort between them. He moved his hand, caressing the mess that was her hair. Nik turned his head to the side, pressing a kiss on her forehead. "Good morning, my love." His voice had dropped an octave, leaving goosebumps across her skin.
She tried to reply, but it came out as a grumble against his neck. A beautific smile bloomed on his lips, the kind that was impossible to stop. He shifted a bit more, so that her face was completely visible.
As part vampire, it was no secret he was undead. And yet, by some miracle, his cold black heart was no longer immobile: this was the power she had, the chemistry between them transcended the impossible.
Blinking blearily, Rosalie struggled to keep her eyes from drooping. "Hey," she whispered, voice still leaden with sleep.
"Hey," he whispered back.
She couldn't help but stare into his eyes, tired and so blue in the morning light. He was so beautiful, she found it difficult to believe she could be a part of intimate moments like this. Rosalie slotted by his side, as though it was the most natural thing in the world. Throwing a leg over his waist, she once again sighed in satisfaction.
"Comfortable?" Nik asked, thoroughly amused. He wasn't complaining in the slightest bit. On the contrary, he was relieved she wanted to get close to him on the same level he wanted her.
"Very," the Monet hummed in content. "You're the most comfortable pillow I know."
He smiled, turning towards her. Her eyes were shut, and he found himself missing those amber swirls. He kissed her forehead, then her nose, which made her quietly giggle. Nik felt like he would burst from joy.
"God, I've missed you." He whispered when her eyes fluttered open. Nik said it so tenderly, so full of adoration, like it was out of the question to believe anything else.
Rosalie smiled bashfully, opting to kiss him with the same amount of affection. "I'm right here, baby," the brunette mumbled against his lips.
A deep red immediately bloomed on his cheeks, far too flustered at the term of endearment. She gasped, marvelling at the sight of him, "Are you blushing?"
This time, it was him who snuggled in the crook of her neck, groaning as he wrapped his arms around her torso. His body was warm against her, yet not as warm as his cheeks.
