TSIREYA LED NETEYAM, KIRI, AND TUK TO THE COVE OF THE ANCESTORS, WANTING TO SHOW THEM THE SPIRIT TREE AND WHAT IT WAS CAPABLE OF DOING. She had been talking to the three of them explaining something, but the boy couldn't focus as he took in the view around him. He felt a splash of water, turning out of his preoccupied state to see Tuk with a smile on her face, "Come on, Tsireya said we can connect to the Spirit Tree!"

Neteyam followed the three girls down to the base of the tree where Tsireya demonstrated how to connect to it, each of them doing as told.

Neteyam turned his head around and saw nothing but water and plants below him. He took a deep breath, feeling weight on his back as he laid down on what looked and felt to be a mauri pod.

There was movement beside him, and a small voice whispered into his hear, "Can you say it just once more? Please? I promise I'll stop asking after this" The voice was feminine, and one Neteyam knew well. Then, he heard his own, "I will say it however many times you want me to, Ma'yeiva"

He was taken aback at the name. Ma'yeiva. Ay'yeiva? Laying on his back, whispering into his ear? They barely even talk though? Every interaction they've had has been cut short or ended on a less-than-positive note. Why would Ay'yeiva be laying on his back while he calls her such a name? Why wou—

The vision flickered away and when Neteyam opened his eyes the Spirit Tree was flashing. Then, it was drained of all its light and all Neteyam could see was Kiri having a seizure.

He put aside his racing thoughts and urgently swam to his sister.
