Letters, Letters, and Letters

The next morning, I had a clogged nose from all the crying I had done the previous night, but never mind that, I quickly showered and letter in hand made my way to Owlry which mind you, took me more than half an hour to find.

I sent the letter off to Malfoy Manor and trudged to the Great Hall which by now was bustling and full, as soon as I entered my eyes, on their own accord went to the Slytherin table I couldn't help but grin at the sight of Pansy hitting Blaise at the top of his head, and I moved towards them, about halfway I remembered I was a Gryffindor and made a sharp turn.

I made my way to the Prefect from yesterday, calling him Prefect is getting tiring, so I'll just ask his name, and with that thought I made my way to him.

"Excuse me?" I said, and he turned around, "Yes?"

"I was wondering—if I could sit at the Slytherin table?"

His eyebrows shot up, and his friends too turned towards them, but the Prefect said, "Sure, you can."

Just as he was turning back to his friend, I asked, "If you don't mind—what is your name?"

"Percy Weasley."

Oh, come on! One person, I talked to one person and he is a blood traitor. Percy seemed to be observing me, and said coolly, "Is there a problem, Malfoy?"

My voice came out a bit squeaky, "No. Not at all." I turned on my heel and walked to where my friends were, as soon as I reached them, there was an instant chorus of, "Lucille!"

"Cannot believe the hat put you in Gryffindor"

"Seriously, how did you manage an entire night with them"

"Let her breathe!" Blaise said loudly

I laughed, and slipped into the seat beside him, "Yes, it is me, don't get me started on the dratted hat and I managed somehow, Pansy, thanks for the concern." I grinned at her and she grinned right back.

Then Draco said, "Cillie, are you okay?" and I could feel my shoulders slump, "I don't know. I mean the one person I talked to turned out to be a Weasley—so" I trailed off.

Daphne said fiercely, "You don't even need anyone there, you have us"

I couldn't help but smile at that. Honestly? I was kind of counting on that too.

I was quickly disappointed when we matched our timetables because Gryffindors and Slytherins only had one class together, Potions. At least they were here, and there would be breakfast, lunch and dinner, I'll survive, I told myself.

Then the owls came in, though I was sure these were the ones sent the previous night, and sure enough.

The letter I got, was my Mother asking whether we reached Hogwarts safely, Father interjecting whether we had to sing the silly song, and finally Mother asking, "Isn't the common room beautiful?"

The real deal I knew would come tomorrow.

It did, as a matter of fact, all of my friends got letters the very next day, later in my dorm when I opened my letter, and read it, my heart sank.

Dear Lucille,

It is indeed not what we expected of you, and is a big adjustment, for you to be a Gryffindor. We expect you to be on your best behaviour and I can not stress this enough, but you are to stay away from blood traitors and muggle-borns, I am relieved that you both are safe and well. Do not forget Lucille you represent the Malfoy name and anything you do reflects on us.

Love,

Your Mother

That was it. Nothing from Father, nothing at all. Well, it was a big adjustment, of course, they will need time to come around to it. Yeah, they just needed time.
