a mongrel like you think he deserves a girl like her?

Greetings. My name is Gilgamesh now—though it used to be Oren. But let’s be honest, when you’ve been reincarnated as *the* King of Heroes from Fate, why would you stick with a mundane name like Oren? No, Gilgamesh is far more fitting. It carries power, authority... and let’s not forget, a little arrogance too.

I find myself in the world of *X-Men: Evolution*. Funny, it’s an old show I barely paid attention to, though Jean Grey always caught my interest in the comics and various adaptations. So, why not take the chance to win her heart here? There’s no one who could deny me, after all. I’m Gilgamesh. I could offer her anything this world has to offer—or even things beyond it. But I’d prefer to win her over the old-fashioned way, with charm.

Still, there’s an obstacle I need to address first. Her boyfriend. Pathetic, really. He’s weak, and while I suppose he has a certain appeal, he’s nothing compared to me. Honestly, he’s like the bargain-bin version of what I represent. Should I be flattered or offended that Jean is dating someone like him? Either way, it’s not going to last long.

As I strolled through the school corridors, I saw them together—Jean and him. They were walking side by side, looking like the picture-perfect couple. How dull. I casually bumped into him, sending him sprawling onto the ground. He landed flat on his backside. Laughter erupted from the onlookers, but Jean, ever the kind soul, bent down to help him up.

Before she could, he scrambled to his feet, his face red with embarrassment and anger. Grabbing me by the collar, he spat out, "YOU SON OF A BITCH, THAT WAS ON PURPOSE! YOU SAW ME WITH MY HOT GIRLFRIEND AND YOU COULDN'T STAND IT!"

I looked at him with mild amusement. He was respectful enough towards Jean, but towards everyone else? A typical hothead. I grabbed his hand—gently, at first. Then I applied pressure. His eyes widened in panic as the bones in his hand creaked under my grip. He yelled in pain, "LET GO!"

I smirked, letting go of his hand. "I wasn’t even trying," I said with a chuckle. "Is that all it takes to break you? Disappointing."

He was about to throw a punch, his pride obviously wounded, but Jean quickly stepped between us, her voice firm but calm. "That’s enough, both of you."

She turned to her boyfriend, her expression softening, "It was just an accident, okay? There’s no need to get upset over it."

He nodded reluctantly, not wanting to upset her, though it was clear he wasn’t happy about letting the situation go. Admirable, in a way, but utterly worthless against someone like me.

Then Jean turned her gaze toward me, her voice steady but laced with irritation. "You should watch where you’re going, Gilgamesh."

She knew my name. Interesting. She probably picked it up from around the school, though I briefly wondered if she’d tried to read my mind. Not that she’d get far. I leaned in slightly, whispering close to her ear, "I was just trying to save him from heartbreak, Jean. It’ll hurt more when he finds out you’re a mutant."

As I walked away, I could sense her shock. She wasn’t expecting that. How did I know? How much did I know? She had questions, but those would have to wait for another time.

Tonight was the big soccer game. The female soccer team. It was more than just a sport to me—it held a special place in my heart from my original life. Watching a game brought back memories, and though this world was different, the feeling was the same. I’d made it a point to attend, not just because the principal asked, but because, for once, I actually cared about the outcome.

When the game started, the energy in the air was palpable. The stands were packed, and the students were buzzing with excitement. I settled in, quietly anticipating the match when, as expected, trouble began brewing. A group of troublemakers were making a scene, mutants, trying to show off. One of them started bragging about his powers, clearly seeking attention.

I wasn’t impressed. I’d seen stronger. I was stronger. But the situation escalated quickly. Soon, a fight broke out between the mutants and the X-Men. Scott fired off beams of red light from his eyes, Jean used her telekinesis to protect the principal, and Rogue was holding her own against Blob. It was chaotic, but it looked like the X-Men were handling it.

Then, I saw it. The school mascot, a heavy prop, was about to fall—right on top of Kitty Pryde. My heart skipped a beat. For a moment, I forgot the role I was playing. I may act like the arrogant, heartless Gilgamesh, but I’m not actually him. I’m not going to let someone die for nothing.

Without hesitation, I opened the Gate of Babylon and fired a spear, shattering the mascot into pieces before it could crush her. I approached Kitty and extended my hand. "Are you alright, Kitty?"

She looked up at me, her cheeks turning slightly pink. I could hardly blame her—Gilgamesh’s charm is hard to resist. But before she could respond, a boy from the group—clearly crushing on her—shouted, "GET AWAY FROM HER!"

He activated his powers, trying to attack me. I couldn’t help but laugh. A challenge? How amusing.

With a flick of my wrist, I sent another spear flying, this time grazing his shoulder. "You think you can defeat me?" I sneered. "You’re nothing, you weakling. I’m not even a mutant, and I know more about your powers than you do. If you think this is enough to take me down, you’re more delusional than I thought."

Kitty’s expression shifted. She wasn’t sure what to make of me anymore. Was I a hero? A villain? She wasn’t sure. I sighed quietly, murmuring to myself, "Playing Gilgamesh is harder than I thought."

Kitty barely caught my words, but something in her expression softened, as if she understood that I wasn’t the arrogant monster I was pretending to be. She quickly turned her attention to the boy, asking if he was alright, while I simply walked away, thinking to myself, *What comes next should be... interesting.*
