Alice and Aurora (Alice's mother) are waiting for the doctor to come back with the hospital results.
"Mom, I'm nervous, what if-" Alice got cut off by Aurora.
"Don't say that. Don't even finish that sentence. Everything is going to be fine. Alice what do I always tell you?" Aurora has a sad smile on her face. She is just as scared as Alice, but she has to be strong for her daughter.
She can feel that Alice is scared. Aurora loves Alice so much, that Alive can't even imagine how much Aurora loves her. Aurora would do anything to get het daughter to feel okay.
"Everything is going to be fine in the end. That's what you always tell me, but mom I'm just scared. What if? It is the only thing I can think about. What if it got back? Mom, what then? I know you guys don't have a lot of money." Alice says.
Her thoughts take her over. What if it got back? They can't afford that. Not a second time. I don't want to get sick again. What if my leukemia got back? I can't go through that, not again.
"Alice," Aurora says in a slightly worried voice, "Stop overthinking if it got back. The leukemia won't be getting back and if it did, then the money is not your problem. Me and Danthe (Alice's step-dad) will fix it. We are the adults here, not you sweetheart. We will figure it out. You don't have to worry about that. You are a very smart 8 year old, but you don't need to worry about the money okay?"
"Okay." Alice says in a soft voice.
"Sorry to interrupt," Dr. Peter says, while walking inside the hospital room. "I'm sorry, Alice."
Alice feels tears forming in her eyes. It is back. It's back. What now? What, What now? Alice's thoughts run everywhere. She keeps the tears inside the best she can.
