As Aaron was staring into my eyes, I realized what I was doing. I didn't notice at all the negativity that my power was releasing. Aaron didn't let go of my shoulder. Instead he was getting down to my level trying to help me.
"Cecilia you need to listen to me. Calm down" He said. His tone was gentle and sweet. He didn't look anything like George. Was he really his son? Before I could even say anything, he grabbed my hands. Holding them tightly. "I can't!" I told him.
"Yes you can!" He said as I continuously shook my head no. "Cecilia close your eyes and breathe. Think about leaving and never coming back. Think about meeting someone and having kids with that person" He said, making sure I'm looking into his eyes, paying attention. I took his advice and closed my eyes and started envisioning me escaping this place.
Within a few minutes I started to calm down. My negative powers started to wear off and disappear. The damage I caused in that corner haunted me but I can use it as a reminder to never get that emotional again. I looked up slowly until Aaron's eyes.
He then reached out his hand, and I took it. As he helped me up I kept my eyes looking down at the floor. I felt ashamed for what he just saw, but more importantly he saw what I can do. "Lift up your head. It's not polite to stare at the floor when talking to someone" He said.
I slowly started lifting my head. "Hey, about what you just saw, I'm sorry" I told him, staring into his left eye. "It's alright-" He started to say, then I interrupted him. "About you witnessing but I can actually do...forget about it. I mean it, don't tell anyone. Please, I'm begging you!" I pleaded to him as he just stared at me.
"You don't need to ask me to keep it a secret. I already knew because of your dad" He said, smiling a little. What? He seriously told Aaron? I'm assuming since he knows, George knows too. Just how many people has he told?
Before I could say anything, Aaron spoke first. "I hope you know, I don't agree with this marriage either. Especially with our age difference. Which is why I'll help you run away" He said, smiling ear to ear. He was serious.
I started heading towards my closet to grab a suitcase when I froze. I turned around, making eye contact with Aaron. "Why exactly are you going to help me run away? Yes I understand you don't agree with you and I marrying. But what's in it for you? I want to leave so that way I'm free and I can do whatever, things I've never done before. But what's your reasoning?" I asked, walking closer to him.
I stopped walking when you were about 5 feet apart. With the expression on his face, it looks like he was hesitant to say. Or just trying to think of an excuse.
"What's in it for me? Ever since I was your age I've been going on blind dates just about every day. My parents don't listen to me about what I want. So what's in it for me? I want to be free like you. We both want to be free. We both want to experience things we've never had before. I am well aware that I have been outside, I've seen the real world and you have not. But I can help you see everything if we team up"
I sit there, frozen in shock. "But let me add we can't do it right away. We have to make them think that we're okay with this. You can't just run away now without a full plan in mind. So for right now we just need to play along. Are you up for it?" He said, waiting desperately for my answer.
Once again I'm just standing there. Thinking this time whether or not I should agree. After a couple of minutes I replied, "Game on"
