Chapter 1 : The Fire

Barking mixed with an annoying alarm is not the best way to wake up. I groaned as I sat up. My back still hurt from scrubbing the floors of the diner. I smiled down at my puppy, Zeppelin, as I turned the alarm off and shot up. 8:02 a.m. OMG I'm late . I ran to the bathroom and hopped in the shower and brushed my teeth at the same time. Finishing up, I grabbed my towel, and put on the clothes I left out from the night before. A regular white v-neck shirt , dark blue jeans and my white converses. Sitting down at my vanity, I brushed my hair into a ponytail, and put on my necklace, my mum designed for me. It was the word " Princess" in little words, to go with my name " Leia". Smiling at myself, I didnt put on any makeup . Spritizing myself with body spray , I grabbed my bag and my phone, and ran down the stairs. Grabbing an apple and a water bottle, I put some food in Zeppelin's bowl and walked out my apartment.

I checked the time on my watch again, 8:30 a.m. , my life is over! As I walked to the bus stop, I checked my phone, for any notifications. Three messages, two phone calls and voicemail. Wonderful! Deciding to check the messages I saw one from my mum and two from my best friend Janet

You Better Wake Up

I smiled and quickly texted her back

I'm up and sure lol

Then I checked my mum's and instantly regretted it

When are you coming over?

My mum has been asking me this question ever since I moved out when I was 20, and that was five years ago. She so lazy, she lives literally ten minutes away, and rather me go to her. Shaking my head, I texted her back

Two days

A smile appeared on my face , as I knew I was lying, and finally made it to the bus stop. Good timing too, because the bus had just arrived. I got on and dug in my bag for some change, and dropped it in the dispenser.

" Good Morning" I said to the Mark, the bus driver, I knew for a few years and he was the sweetest man ever.

" Morning sweetpea. Aren't you late?" He asked closing the door behind and putting the bus in motion

" Yeah, but maybe Maggie would give me a break, because I worked overtime." I replied, finally taking a bite out of my apple.

" Ahh, Hopefuly." He said focusing back on the bus. I moved to a empty seat and took out my book.

I had finally got to the part when the animals started to calm down. This was getting really good , and continued reading for the rest of the ride.

15 minutes later.....

" Here we are" Mark announced pulling up to my stop. I put my book away and got off the bus

I threw out my apple in the nearest trash bin, and instantly smelled smoke. I shook it off ,but I couldn't help but have a weary feeling in my stomach. Uh oh , I thought as I walked to the diner. Tears swelled up in my eyes as I saw the diner on fire. NO! Spotting the owner, Maggie I rushed over to see her crying.

" Maggie , how did this happen." I asked rubbing her back

" There was a gas leak." She replied groggily. Reaching into my bag I pulled out a tissue and gave it to her

" Thanks"

" No problem , well what do I do?" I asked her, watching the only form of income for me , turn to ash

" I guess, your'e going to have to go job searching again, I'm so sorry Leia." She replied looking up at me with watery eyes.

" I guess so." I replied walking back to the bus stop.

20 minutes later

Finally home I stepped into my apartment, and was greeted by Zeppelin. Bending down to pat his head. I headed to my room and took my laptop out .Time to look for jobs.
