After the defeat of Thanos and Tony Stark's death, Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, travels back in time to return the Infinity Stones. When he returns the Space Stone, he decides to remain in the past and live out his life with Peggy Carter. This choice creates an alternative timeline where Steve never returns to pass his shield to Sam Wilson, leading to a different set of events in the future.

On November 13, 1945, Matt Rogers is born, the first and only child of Steve and Peggy Rogers.

November 13th 1961

**Steve:** "Breakfast is ready."

**Matt:** "Coming."

**Peggy:** "Good morning, son, and happy birthday!"

**Matt:** "Thanks, Mom."

**Steve:** "After breakfast, we need to talk."

**Matt:** "Alright, I guess."

After breakfast, the three Rogers sit at the table. Steve's expression is serious as he begins.

**Steve:** "Son, there's something very important you need to know."

**Matt:** "What's going on, Dad? Why are you so stressed?"

**Steve:** "You have powers that make you stronger than any other human."

**Matt:** "Yeah, right. You don't need to say stuff like that, Dad. I'm 16."

**Steve:** "I'm serious. You're a superhuman because of me. Back in my day, I was Captain America."

**Matt:** "Stop right there. We live in Poland. America is on a different continent."

**Steve:** "I haven't finished, son. Please, let me explain. Peggy, show him the proof."

Peggy retrieves an old book from a safe and opens it to reveal photographs.

**Matt:** "What the—"

**Steve:** "Language, Matt."

**Matt:** "But how is this possible? Why do we live here and not in the United States? What other secrets are you hiding from me?!"

**Steve:** "I'm sorry, son. I can't tell you everything right now."

**Matt:** "Why not? Why did you lie to me my entire life? Why?"

**Steve:** "I promise you'll understand one day. But there's something else I need you to know."

**Matt:** "No. I don't want to hear you lie to my face again. I need to get some fresh air."

**Steve:** "Matt, wait. Don't forget—I love you."

**Peggy:** "He's young. He'll understand us one day."

Two hours later, Matt returns home to find his house reduced to ashes. Amidst the wreckage, he discovers his mother's lifeless body on the ground. Police and paramedics swarm the area, but his father is nowhere to be found. As Matt stands in shock, a man approaches him.

**Agent:** "Hi, Matt. I'm so sorry for your loss."

**Matt:** "Who are you? I don't even know you."

**Agent:** "I'm sorry for the sudden appearance. I'm a special agent from a group your parents were involved with before their deaths. We hoped you might help us find the people responsible for this."

**Matt:** "I've been lied to my whole life, but they didn't deserve this."

**Agent:** "So, are you coming with me?"

**Matt:** "Yes. I will seek justice for my parents."
