(yo wassup wassup wassuppp? I've been doing alright, I had just gotten strep, and have a bit of a cold, but I'm doing better now! Just wanna give y'all a small chapter before I start school again next week, not much. :3 )
Awakening with a gasp, Max sat up at lightning speed, panting desperately for air, his face flushed red. He quickly looked around before sighing and trying to calm down. He inhaled slowly before exhaling and throwing his legs over the edge of the couch, standing up a bit shakily.
He walked over to the kitchen, lazily grabbing a bowl, cereal, and a spoon. Opening the fridge, he checked for the carton of milk, only to not find it anywhere.
"Huh.... I guess I finished it already.... Well, dry cereal it is then."
Max muttered to himself as he sat at the table and ate, slowly chewing as his foggy mind wandered elsewhere.
'really?.... That wasn't her the other day?.... She was home?.... I can't believe it... But that sounded just like her -- even looked like her too!.... Ugh, I don't want to do anything today... I don't have the energy.... I just want to lay on the floor and cry.'
The more the boy thought to himself, the more his appetite started to disintegrate into a pile of ash.
"Cry?... I can't do that, that means I'm weak."
Growling under his breath, a hint of sadness and utter weakness began underlying his tone with each word. He got up, leaving his things on the table as he dragged himself up to his room to change, giving up halfway because of the lack of motivation.
"I don't want to... But Dad would hate to see me like this, so I need to change."
Eventually after arguing with himself over every breath, or step he took, he was finally ready and walked outside. He needed to get a taxi, because his only bike was ruined in a bad accident a while ago, and he didn't have the money, nor the interest, or even the need to replace it. He was slightly regretting not doing it as he stumbled under the hot, summer sun.
"It's only ten a.m. -- how is it this hot?!..."
Max wiped the sweat off his brow before turning a corner and seeing a taxi driver, and just as he was about to call out to the person, he saw their long, wavy red hair -- causing him to freeze in terror and immediately hide behind the corner of the building again.
"That looked like her -- I need to get out of here...."
He panicked and fumbled while taking his phone out of his pocket, desperately trying to call his father. The phone rang for about a minute without an answer, before the young boy sighed and glanced around nervously.
'fuck.... Okay, so dad isn't answering.... Uhm... Is she gone yet?...'
