Mia had been planning the perfect proposal for her girlfriend, Charlotte, for months. She meticulously planned every detail, from the romantic setting to the speech she'd prepared. One sunny afternoon, as they strolled through a picturesque park, Mia finally found the courage to pop the question.
"Charlotte, there's something I've been wanting to ask you," Mia began, her voice quivering with nervousness.
Charlotte turned to look at Mia, curiosity piqued. She saw the mixture of nervousness and excitement in Mia's eyes and immediately knew that something significant was about to happen.
"What is it?" Charlotte asked, her heart racing in anticipation.
Mia took a deep breath, steadying herself as she looked into Charlotte's eyes. "Charlotte, we've been together for a few years now, and in that time, you've made me the happiest I've ever been," she began, her voice trembling slightly.
Charlotte's heart skipped a beat, and a soft smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She already had an inkling of what was coming, but hearing Mia's words still sent a wave of joy through her veins.
"Charlotte," Mia continued, taking Charlotte's hands in her own. "I can't picture a future without you in it. You're my rock, my partner, and my best friend. I can't imagine waking up next to anyone else for the rest of my life."
Tears welled up in Charlotte's eyes as she listened to Mia's heartfelt words. "Oh, Mia," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're making it really hard for me to wait for the actual question.
"Mia chuckled softly, her own eyes sparkling with emotion. "I know, I know." She took another deep breath, her gaze steady and unwavering. "What I'm trying to say is, Charlotte, will you do me the honor of marrying me?"
Time seemed to stand still for a moment as Charlotte's breath caught in her throat. Her heart soared, and a radiant smile spread across her face. "Yes," she said, her voice filled with conviction. "Yes, I will marry you, Mia. Absolutely."
A wave of relief and jubilation washed over Mia. She had spent weeks worrying about how Charlotte would react, but now that she had her answer, all those fears vanished into thin air.
"You have no idea how happy you've made me," Mia said, pulling Charlotte into a tight embrace.
Charlotte wrapped her arms around Mia, burying her face in the nape of Mia's neck. "I should be saying the same thing to you," she murmured, her voice filled with overwhelming love. "You've just made me the happiest woman alive.
"They held each other for what felt like an eternity, the world around them fading away as they basked in their happiness. Finally, Mia pulled back just enough to look into Charlotte's eyes, her expression soft and full of love.
"I don't have a ring yet," she confessed sheepishly, "but I promise I'll get you the most beautiful one. You deserve nothing less."
Charlotte laughed softly, the sound like music to Mia's ears. "You know, I don't need a ring to know that you're serious about this," she said, reaching up to brush a strand of hair from Mia's face. "But I admit, I am excited to see what you pick out for me."
Mia nodded, her expression softening. "I know," she said, running her fingers gently through Charlotte's hair. "It's the thought of waking up next to you every morning, growing old together, and facing whatever life throws at us, as long as we're facing it together. That's what truly matters."
