The words from Azazel's last letter echoed in my thoughts as I lingered in the soft embrace of my bed, the morning light casting a glow on the delicate script. Each phrase was intricately laced with promises and dreams yet to unfold, pulling me deeper into a world of whispered secrets and shared destinies. I had just retrieved the letter from my stash under the bed, the papers worn from countless readings. When I heard footsteps approaching, panicking, I quickly tucked it back into its hiding spot, thinking it was my mother. Instead, Odessa entered, a slight smile playing on her lips as she caught my flustered expression. "Morning, Lady Serena. It seems I caught you at a good moment?" she teased, setting down a tray with a modest breakfast on the table beside me. Relief washed over me, followed by a warm flush of embarrassment. "For a moment, I thought you were my mother." I confessed, setting back against the pillows. Odessa chuckled as she arranged the dishes. "Well, it's just me. And it looks like you were reading something...interesting?" She glanced pointedly at the spot where I'd hid the box. My cheeks warmed further, but I nodded inviting her into my confidence. "It was from Azazel. His words...they always seem to find a way to stir my heart."

Like the rest of the realm, Odessa knew little about Azazel as well. Me and her met a little bit while after The Red War. Nonetheless, real or imaginary, Odessa was always one for a good love story. She poured me a cup of tea, her expression turning conspiratorial. "And soon he'll be here, not just in the letters but in person, but your side, openly as your king. Have you thought about what that will be like? To finally reveal him to everyone?" The weight of her words hung between us as I sipped my tea. "I think about it all the time. But it feels so daunting. Azazel is a part of this world that many have here don't understand--shadowed and mystical." "But isn't that the thrilling part?" Odessa's voice dropped down to a whisper, full of intrigue. "The Queen of Voluptaria, joined with a figure of mystery and power. The realms will talk of nothing else, and your enemies will think twice before crossing you." I nodded, taking a sip of my tea, feeling its warmth spread through me. "I suppose you're right. His strength would complement mine, making us a formidable pair. But there's much to prepare, and his identity would bring as many challenges as it would advantages." Odessa's face became more serious. "And what of the council, the noble, and the people? They'll want to know who their future king is, and secrets have a way of brewing storms in places like these." "That is my greatest concern." I admitted, my brow furrowing. "Revealing Azazel as my choice will shock many, and please probable few. Our connection, though deep and true, is shrouded in enigmas that most here would find....unsettling." "Well then!" Odessa said, standing and collecting the empty breakfast dishes, "perhaps it's time they see that their future queen chooses with her heart, not just her head. And who better to stand by your side than one who knows the depths of your soul?"

Her words bolstered my spirits. As she left, I rose from the bed, energized by the prospect of the day. I would need every ounce of my will to navigate the court, to prepare for my coronation, and to eventually reveal my heart's choice. As I dressed, the weight of my forthcoming decisions pressed upon me, yet felt a strange peace. With Azazel's words as my anchor and Odessa's unwavering support, I was ready to face whatever the day might bring, and ultimately, to unite my destiny with his. With the morning's intimate discussions behind me, I donned my royal attire--a flowing dress of deep red accented with gold embroidery, symbolizing the fire and majesty of Voluptaria. The sun was high by the time I descended the marble steps of the castle, my knights arrayed around me in their black and gold armor. They were silent, formidable presence, yet today was not a day for displays of might but for celebration. As we entered the town, the air was alive with the hum of excitement. Colorful banners flew from rooftops, and stalls lined the streets, each bursting with trinkets and treats. The townspeople greeted me with cheers and wide smiles, their enthusiasm infectious. I couldn't help but smile back, my heart light with the joy of the moment. I spent the entire day mingling with my people, sharing their revelries. Children ran up to me with flowers and handmade gifts, their laughter ringing clear and true. I knelt to meet them at eye level. Once I did I began to see the beauty in this lineage Queen Mother spoke about. Each question and story more endearing than the last. It was in these moments, surrounded by innocent joy, that I felt the weight of my future crown ease slightly on my shoulders. Today, I was one of them--a part of this vibrant community.
