As soon as Jungkook touched him, Taehyung’s thoughts scattered. It wasn’t sexual, but it felt more intimate— so much so that he felt vulnerable under Jungkook's gaze. Yet, unlike before, he didn’t hate it. Normally, showing his vulnerability to anyone was something he despised. It was too personal. But with Jungkook, after all these years, he felt exposed in a way that was oddly comforting. Jungkook handled him with care, silently reassuring every doubt Taehyung had without needing to say a word. It terrified him too, knowing that this was all just a contractual obligation. But all those thoughts faded into a misty fog as he focused solely on the warm touch under his ear.
"Hyung..." Jungkook’s soft voice brought him back, and he realized he had closed his eyes.
"Shall we go in?" Jungkook asked, and Taehyung could only nod, allowing himself to be gently led by the younger. His gaze shifted to Soojin, who sat on the pastel green couch, her white heels blending with the marble floor beneath.
"I'm Jungkook," he introduced himself, extending his hand. She shook it with a small smile, replying, "Soojin."
"I’ll get some tea," Taehyung excused himself, returning with three cups.
"No, not that one. Take this," he said, handing Soojin her cup while watching Jungkook hum in approval at the taste, clearly noticing the tea was less sweet.
"So... you're getting married?" Soojin asked, and they both hesitated, unsure of what to say.
"It's contractual, for business purposes," Jungkook replied, and Taehyung felt a pang of disappointment. Of course, it was nothing more than that. But before he could fully process his thoughts, Jungkook added, "But making it more seems easier from my point of view." This time, Taehyung couldn’t hide the smile that spread across his face, his cheeks turning red and the color spreading to his ears and neck.
"Yeah," he responded shyly, catching Soojin’s questioning gaze.
"You seem to have company already, so I’ll take my leave," Soojin said with a teasing smile as she stood up, adjusting her bag. "But don't think you're off the hook, Taehyung. I expect a full explanation for not inviting me properly when the time comes," she added, warningly. Jungkook chuckled softly as she made her way out, and Taehyung couldn't help but feel a little lighter at what Jungkook said earlier.
"Is it okay if I give you an office tour now?" Taehyung asked, unsure of what else to say.
"But is the office even open today?"
"I have the keys. I work almost every weekend, so..." he trailed off, causing Jungkook to furrow his brows.
"You seemed worn out yesterday, and don’t tell me you're planning to work today as well," Jungkook said, his tone showing concern. Taehyung bit his lips, making the younger even more upset.
"We're not going anywhere. That's it."
"Oh no, Jungkook, there are some reports I need to study. I can—"
"No talking back. We're staying in bed, watching Netflix, eating a lot, and sleeping even more," Jungkook's stern voice left no room for Taehyung to argue. He finally asked if he could at least change into casuals, which Jungkook allowed.
Entering his room, Taehyung quickly closed the door. He felt sweat forming as the heat intensified. If he didn’t control himself now, the younger could cause a different kind of problem. With that in mind, he took a cold shower before changing into a loose beige tee and chocolate brown shorts.
When he returned, he saw Jungkook comfortably seated on the couch, now extended into a bed, choosing a series. They’d had many movie nights before, but this felt different. There wasn’t this tension between them before; he wasn’t this affected. He didn’t fully understand when Jungkook said he was crazy about him, but now Taehyung could understand what that might be and he won't be surprised if he feels that way towards Jungkook sonner too.
"Hyung, I’ve chosen. Come," Jungkook said, adjusting the volume as he heard Taehyung’s steps and felt the couch dip. He looked to the side, only to be met with the elder’s bare knees, his eyes lingering there.
Taehyung’s heart skipped a beat when he saw Jungkook look up, his greyish eyes holding him in place. Jungkook quickly looked away and started the movie without a word. Light sparks ignited whenever their fingers brushed.
Taehyung didn’t know where the sudden courage came from, but he held Jungkook's hand, both of them freezing for a few seconds. When Jungkook didn’t push him away, Taehyung tightened his hold.
By the time the movie ended, Taehyung was dozing off. Jungkook moved closer to adjust him, only for Taehyung’s head to fall on his shoulder. Jungkook couldn’t bring himself to push him away, so he lay down beside him, watching as Taehyung snuggled closer. His fingers itched to touch Taehyung’s soft, silky hair, and when he gave in to the urge, he found himself gently threading through the locks. Taehyung’s lips were slightly parted, and Jungkook realized that, in some ways, he hadn’t changed at all. His hand began to drift lower, with more greed of wanting to feel more of Taehyung’s skin.
Guilt quickly overtook him, and he retracted his hand, feeling bad for touching him without consent. But with Taehyung so close, the warmth and comfort lulled him to sleep too.
They both slept tangled— familiarly different.
