The race started, the current world champion was in pole position and Sergio Perez was in fourth. The lights go out, In a blink of an eye Verstappen was in front of everyone, even after being almost hit by his teammate in the first curve. Luna could feel everyone holding their breath in that very moment, thankfully neither of the drivers had suffered any damage.
In the first laps there was lots and lots of overtakes and almost some possible crashes. In the meantime Verstappen was still leading the Grand Prix until he was called into the pits in lap 24 dropping from first to fourth, coming behind the British young driver by 9 seconds.
Lap 28 Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen crashed, causing a yellow flag that in seconds turned into a full safety car. Norris was now leading the race, as he went into the pits for a change of tires. Four laps after the track was cleared and the race restarted as soon as Lando crossed the start/finish line.
From lap 34 to 40 Carlos Sainz and Oscar Piastri were trying to overtake one another. From what she had learned from Twitter and TikTok these two drivers had an ongoing "rivalry" both in track and off track. A small touch of cars between the two cause the McLaren driver to drop down to eighteenth place after a need of change of his front wing.
The Grand Prix was coming to an end. Lap 57 Lando Norris was the race leader by almost 8 seconds away from Max. "Fifteen times Lando Norris has stood on the podium but never on the top step until now! It's a landmark day for Lando. Lando Norris wins for the first time in Formula 1! It's victory in Miami for Norris and McLaren. The British driver's dream is realised and at the a hundred and tenth attempt he's done it he's won it." David Croft reports.
