I slowly opened my eyes trying to adjust to the bright white lights shining down on me. As my eyes adjusted to the light, I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness wash over my body. The large chandelier was silver and consisted of 5 tiers of diamonds. The obnoxiously large jewels reminded me that this was my mothers doing. She was ALL about the glitz and the glam that came with being a Queen. Well, as much glitz and glam my father would allow her access to. I brought my hand to my head and let out a small sigh. There was nothing more embarrassing than passing out in the middle of your palace hallway because of some fucking letter. I wish that the floor had swallowed me whole instead of being carried to bed by Alfred. He wasn't exactly young, and it couldn't have been good for his back. I definitely need to apologize to him later on. I lifted my hand towards my head and rested it on my forehead. My head was in so much pain to the point where sitting up was too painful. I slowly started to lay back down while I was trying to remember the events that led up to me blacking out. Let's see. I read the creepy letter in my study, felt terrified, then ran out into the hallway to find Alfred, and then I- Wait wait wait. Who the FUCK is that?! I hadn't realized that while I was taking out the time to internally monologue, there were a pair of two eyes focused on me. I recognized the pair of warm, hazel brown eyes that locked with mine. Alfred. Surprisingly, he didn't look all too concerned about me, but I knew that deep down he was worried. It felt strangely comforting that he didn't show it. He knew that those who showed emotions to me made me uncomfortable. I gave him a small smile and shifted my gaze to the young woman who was standing next to him. She looked about my age, possibly younger than I was by a couple of years. Her gray eyes were stricken with concern causing my skin to crawl.
"Why are you guys just staring at me? How long have you been here for?" I questioned. The young woman practically ran at me with a cup of tea and thrusted it into my hands. I quickly held a firm grasp on the bottom of the tea cup plate before it split. Oh my-
"I made you some tea when I heard that you had fallen ill. I didn't know what kind of tea you liked but I read that mint lemon has a calming effect on one's body. I also added a slice of orange to it as well for extra vitamins," she rambled. I brought the cup up to my lips and took a gentle, slow sip. How did she know this tea was my favorite? Alfred must've told her.
"Thank you..." I trailed off, not knowing what to call her.
"Oh right! My name is Camila. Camila Bask. I'm originally from Evensdale, but I recently moved here a couple of weeks ago. Evensdale is only about 2 months from your Kingdom. By the way, it's beautiful here! The scenery is a blessing to look at every morning, and the sunsets are SO SO gorgeous here! And the people here are oh so lovely! Do you know how many people have already offered me a place to stay!" she exclaimed.
She seemed to be a bit naive with that kind of thinking if I was being honest. She must've had an amazing life to have that kind of mindset about the world and people around her. I was envious about that fact. She seemed like someone who had experienced a lot of life and well...experiences.
"Well, my parents were very kind to the citizens here, and I have intended to continue to treat them with the same grace and kindness. They deserve to have the best treatment for being model citizens and protecting each other. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, why are you here? I have never seen you before," I asked her. I was extremely confused as to why she was even here. Especially since she had revealed in her ramble that she moved her a couple weeks ago. She obviously wasn't here to kill me, I mean, that would be very stupid of her to do. And on top of that, Alfred would've figured out that she was here to murder me. She wasn't here to find out insider information about me and my Kingdom. I have eyes and ears in almost every Kingdom that is within 6 months. And to my knowledge, I have zero enemies, and Alfred would've been told if I did. But you know what, who knows, maybe she was smarter than he was.
