Black eye

The sound of the clock was the only thing I was listening to, tuning the teachers annoying voice out. All I wanted to do was go home and take a long nap.

Ever since that night I got knocked out, I had the ugliest black eye. When I came back to school I got a bunch of odd looks I had never gotten before, and I was apparently the talk of the school according to June. At least I had her to speak for me.

The only thing I remember was the feeling of June massaging my head as I woke up. She told me that after Lance knocked the wind out of me, I passed out. And apparently she had actually carried me all the way to a park bench which was what I was laying on when I woke up. I refused to believe she actually did that ...until she demonstrated it. But it turns out she goes to the gym a lot and wants to be a personal trainer sometime in the future.

When I got back to school, news got out that I got into some kind of "fight". Everyone could tell by looking at my bruised eye. But people have started to actually notice my existence. In first period I even had a full on conversation with some of the most popular girls at my school. They actually felt bad for me after I explained what happened.

Even though my eye is jacked I felt like it was worth it since I got Lance to leave us alone so June was okay and safe.

"Charlie, yo" Ray called, as soon as the bell rang. I snapped out of my daze and looked at him. "Hey," I said, trying to be as natural as possible.

He ran a hand through his hair "who'd you get in a fight with?"

"Ahh nobody" I said. "Everyone wants to know." He exclaimed with wide eyes. "Like everyoneee"

"It's not really important.." I got up and swung my backpack on my shoulder. Rays friends all exchanged looks. "Come onnn"

June walked over towards us. "Hey guys"

"June do you know who Charlie fought with. He's not telling us" Ray teased. June made eye contact with me like she was waiting for my approval. I just nodded slightly and started to walk off.

I guess she took it as a cue for her to be able to tell them. "This....crazy guy was following us around and you know what happened next." She said. "WAITTT YOU TWO WERE TOGETHER?!" Ray yelled at an unnecessary volume.

After I walked out of the room I could hear the faint sounds of them yelling about it. Only god knows what Ray is gonna do with that information.

A couple of seconds later when I was about to exit the school, June caught up with me. "Bet your loving all the attention you've been getting"

I sighed. "Being known for getting beat up in a fight? I don't think so"

"Well sure you got your ass kicked but everyone thinks you fought back." She said. I darted my eyes over at her in shock. "What?"

"Well ya. They probably think you got so violent to the point where the guy had to give you a black eye to defend himself" she said thoughtfully. "What?! I'm not..violent" I remarked.

"Never said you were!!" She said. I started to sulk. "But I don't want people to think I'm..violent"

"Well..." she pondered for something to say to probably try and make me feel better. "I mean I just told Ray and his friends it was basically to defend me sooo"
