Marjorie could hear the sound of muffled sirens as she slowly began to open her eyes. Everything was blurry and her head pounded with a dull ache. She attempted to sit up, but a wave of dizziness forced her back into the seat. Closing her eyes, she tried to remember what happened- but everything was so hazy and unclear. She remembered driving down the main road, her plans with Autumn-
Autumn.
"AUT!" Everything came flooding back to Marjorie as she heard Reece screaming from behind the police barricades. She began to frantically look around- realizing how bad the scene was. Marjorie's car was wrecked, its mangled body a testament to the force of the crash. Airbags hung limp, their job already done. The sound of sirens became louder, more clear to Marjorie's ears. Paramedics were surrounding the car, their faces etched with fear. It was then that Marjorie realized she heard no sounds coming from the passenger side of her car. Panic set in like wildfire, consuming all her rational thought. Autumn- her Autumn- was limp, bloody and bruised in the seat next to her. Marjorie's heart began to race, her breath coming in short gasps. She gripped the wheel, not realizing she had never let go.
"Ma'am you have to let go, you have to let us help you." All the voices around her sounded like they were underwater. She couldn't feel her hands, she couldn't let go. Not until they got Autumn out.
"Help her first! Please, God- PLEASE! Help her first!" She screamed, her eyes never leaving her girlfriend's limp body.
"We've got her, ma'am but you have to let us help you. You can't stay here." The paramedic's managed to draw Marjorie's eyes off of Autumn for a moment- just long enough for them to begin to pull Autumn from the wreckage. Marjorie could hear the crunching of twisted metal and snapped her head back to Autumn.
"I need to see her safe. Please." Marjorie begged as they began to lift Autumn from the mangled mess. She couldn't help but reach as far as she could, her fingers just grazing Autumn's as they pulled her away from her. Marjorie felt like her heart had been ripped away from her. Her body began to shake, and before she could register it- a scream escaped from her throat, hoarse and raw as they loaded Autumn into the ambulance. Tears streamed down her face, she could see Reece running up to the ambulance shouting. They had allowed him into the back before shutting the door and speeding off. Marjorie felt her chest tighten, her breath began to feel staggered. Her vision began to narrow into a tiny pinprick of light, before disappearing all together. The only words she could muster before she lost all feeling were: "Please. I love her..."

When Marjorie came to she was surrounded by beeping machines and the sterile smell of a hospital room. Her body ached as she recalled the events that had taken place. She inhaled sharply as she tried to sit up, her ribs felt like they were bruised. The curtain opened, revealing Viv standing in front of her in her nurse's scrubs. Marjorie crumbled, the sight of someone familiar sent her into a spiral.
"Marjorie.." Viv spoke softly as she crouched down next to Marjorie's bed. "Marjorie, honey, you're okay. Your injuries are minimal, you're gonna be okay." Marjorie couldn't stop crying. All she could muster was a sob soaked:
"Autumn." Viv sighed sadly.
"I don't know much. Just what Siobhan has been able to tell me from the family room. She's in surgery. We've been waiting for you to wake up.. All your friends are here.." Viv glanced out into the main area of the ER.
