The Night Before Prom

"Shit fucking holy shit!" Jodie says walking in circles around her room while Peter is sitting on her bed staring at her.
"God Jodie calm down."
"Calm down, CALM DOWN? I can't calm down!" My prom date is in a coma my best friend is dead and you." Jodie says,pointing at Peter "Well no you're fine."
Jodie sat down and put her head on Peter's lap. He looks down at her.
"Okay so I'm going to prom with the nurse and his name is Jake and he's awesome." Peter said excitedly.
She sits up "Wait hold the fuck up, he's like 25 right?"
"No he's 23 almost 24."
"And you, an 18 year old are going with him a 23 year old?!?"
"Uh yeah" Peter said looking puzzled, "What's wrong with that? I think that love is love no matter gender, age, weight, and height."
"Oh okay I guess then." Jodie said feeling a little dumbfounded.
"Should we go dress/tux shopping?" Peter asked getting antsy.
"Um sure. Yeah we could do that"
They grab their things and head for Jodie's car.
"This time I'm driving," Jodie said looking at Peter and putting her sunglasses on. "Let's hit the road Jack!"

They arrive at H&M and go looking for cute dresses. She finds a slim turquoise one with slits on the sides, a purple one with a sparkly strap, and a big fat pink one with sparkles like the one on GBF. She tries the purple one on first with purple high heels.
"Not as good." Peter says.
She goes back in and a few minutes later pops out with the fat pink one.
"To gypsy but the color is pretty."
The last one is the strapless turquoise.
"Perfect" Peter says,
She buys the turquoise one for $160 and the go to the tux store down the street. Peter tries on a flashy red one that shows a little too much, a grey and lime green one, and a rainbow one with yellow pockets. He goes with the grey and lime one (didn't want to be to noticeable) and rented for $69. Jodie drops Peter off at his house and waves him off. She drives to the hospital where Vince is at.

She heads down the dark hall and sees Vince barely awake and she rushes over.
"Oh My God, Vince can u hear me!" She says extremely excited.
The nurse rushes over and says "excuse me miss, but he still can't hear, it was a bad crash and damaged a bit of his ear but he should be out by tomorrow at 10:00 pm
"Oh fuck, she says to herself, prom starts at 5:30 and goes to 10:30! I don't think he'll make it. She kisses Vince and goes off to her car where she drives home feeling sad and lonely.
On the drive she's thinking, why Vince? Why does it have to be sweet innocent Vincent? The world was made for hearts, she thinks, but one hearts mistake will cause another's pain. She cries a hot streak before she pulls into her garage, parks her car, and runs inside.
