     BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

My phone's alarm wakes me up. I realize that I had missed the first 3 alarms, and now have thirty minutes to get to class. I snap awake and jump up. It looks like Amy has left already. Good. After brushing my teeth, I quickly shower and get dressed throwing on my black tank top, a red short sleeved over shirt, and black jeans. I adjusted my hair, slipped my high top shoes on, grab my backpack, and like a flash of lightning I was out the door. Running across campus I found the open door to Physics 101, and make it through just as the clock hits 8 a.m. After taking a second to catch my breath I sit down in a back corner of the lecture hall.

"Alright students, my name is Professor Portillo. On your tables you will find a syllabus for this semester's studies" Mrs. Portillo adjusts the pearl necklace that lays  around her neck. "Please open your books to page 36. We will be starting the school year with Newton's Laws of Motion." The professor turns to the white board and starts writing out equations which are basically a review of high school physics.

As I sat in class, my thoughts began to wander back to the events from yesterday. Jacky seemed really upset, and I couldn't fathom why. She had every right to be pissed at me, but it has been almost a YEAR since she graduated. I guess some people take longer to move on. I couldn't help but feel a bit of responsibility for it though. Maybe I should say something? Apologize? No, she said she didn't want to see me.

The loud tapping on the whiteboard brings me back to the present, and I hurriedly try to catch up on my notes. Eventually the professor dismisses the class with some chapter reading as homework.

Lunch time comes around, and I find Jason next to the pond we met at. We fist bumped, and he starts leading me towards the cafeteria.

"So, how is the first day of classes?" Jason asks. "How did you schedule them?"

"They're going alright," I shrug my shoulders, "I front loaded most of my classes, so I would have my evenings free. I've got Chemistry after lunch, then practice, and then I'll be free."

"Nice," Jason nodded his head. "I'm only taking 3  classes this semester, so I'll have more time to work on music."

The cafeteria isn't as crowded as I thought it would be. A few metal heads in the back wave Jason down, and we walk over.

"Hey man!" an average height guy with blonde messy hair gave Jason a fist bump, and a slap on the back. Jason goes around fist bumping the other guys.

"Guys, this is Jade. We met yesterday, and she's hella chill." Jason introduces me to everyone. "This is Brad," he says pointing to the eager guy from earlier, "That's John, and Alex." The other two guys wave. John has shoulder length black hair and pale skin. Alex has his hair long on top and parted down the middle. It gives me an early 2000's boy band vibe.

"Hey guys," I give them a wave as Brad dragged me into a seat.

"So where are you from?" Brad immediately jumps into questions.

"Give her some time to breathe Blondie," John gives me an apologetic look. "Sorry about him. He has enough energy for the entire group."

I laugh and shake my head. "It's all good, man. To answer your question, Brad,  I'm from Texas."

"What the heck brings you all the way out to Cali?" Brad asked surprised.

"A killer softball and sports med program," I respond.

"Softball huh? Isn't that a little stereotypical?" Alex asks. I rolled my eyes playfully, but I could tell there wasn't any malice behind the question.
