ELISABETTA OLIVIERI WAS ONLY going to Forks, Washington to visit her half-sister, Isabella—Bella—seeing as she had just moved there. Even though they had different fathers and lived far apart, Elsa and Bella grew up pretty close. Elisabetta's father's name was Harper Olivieri, a man from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Harper and Renée met when they were only sixteen, and after dating for a mere couple of months, Renée found out she was pregnant with Elisabetta.

Their relationship didn't last very long after that. Before Elisabetta's first birthday, Renée had fled Calgary with her daughter, leaving Harper heartbroken. While on a trip to the Olympic Peninsula when Elisabetta had just turned three, Renée met Charlie Swan—a man she was convinced was the one for her. After a few weeks, they eloped, and not long after that , Renée was pregnant yet again, her second child at only nineteen years old.

It didn't take long for Renée to leave Charlie, too. When Isabella, the new baby, was only a few months old, just like Elisabetta was, she left, running off to California. The two girls lived together for the early years of their childhood, but when Elisabetta turned thirteen and Bella was ten, she decided to move in with her father in Calgary.

Elisabetta had always been closer with her father than her mother, who she had a very rocky relationship with. Since her and Bella were young, it always felt like they were the ones taking care of Renée instead of the other way around. It was like Renée never matured beyond the age of sixteen—always hopping around from city to city, with boyfriend to boyfriend. It forced Elsa and Bella to grow up fast, becoming parentified children.

The few short weeks a year she got to spend in Calgary with her father were the happiest weeks of Elsa's childhood. He was her best friend, and a true parent, unlike her mom. He really cared for her and wanted to give her a good life. It wasn't a hard decision to make to move to Calgary. The only thing that held her back slightly was leaving Bella behind with Renée, but at the end of the day, Bella was Renée's favorite child.

And since the age of thirteen, Elsa lived in Calgary. She visited Bella whenever she could, which was usually only on holidays and birthdays, but they called each other everyday to chat. Elisabetta loved her baby sister, and she loved Bella's father, Charlie, too. He was a good man that was just as wronged by Renée as her father had been. Harper and Charlie got along quite well too.

When Elsa suggested to Harper at the age of twenty that she wanted to visit Charlie and Bella for a few weeks, he had no issue with it. Bella had finally moved in with her own father at seventeen-years-old, seeing as Renée was now married to some crappy baseball player and wanted to travel all around. Elisabetta merely wanted to see her younger sister in her new home, see how she was adjusting. She'd only been living there for a little less than two months. Not to mention, Elsa hadn't seen Charlie since she was sixteen. She'd liked to have seen how she was doing.
